It was amazingly a very ordinary school day: the sun was up, making it a bit hot for the month of July, which usually was rainy season already in the Philippines and the students were early and noisily chattering on school grounds, as Ella walked towards her classroom quite self-consciously. People were also taking a curious glance at her, or at least she felt so, as for the first time, she went to school in shades. Sir Kenneth gave her some anti-swelling cream last night before she went home, but there was an undeniable black mark on her face that just looked terrible.
