CHAPTER 22
"Does he know about me?"
The question hung heavily in the air.
Tara's heart squeezed painfully of all the questions Jaden could have asked, she somehow knew that would be the first one.
Tara lowered her eyes and slowly shook her head.
"No."
The answer was soft but it felt deafening inside the office.
Jaden stood motionless, his face unreadable. For a moment, Tara wondered if he had even heard her.
Then she saw a brief flicker in his eyes. Gone almost immediately. But she saw it. Because she knew exactly what he was thinking.
Jaden turned away from her.
His jaw tightening, his hands clenched into fists. The realization was finally settling in.
Not just the fact that he had a son but everything he had missed. Everything he would never get back.
