“I want to meet him.”
The words hit Tara like a physical blow her entire body went rigid.
“No.”
The answer came instantly without thought or hesitation.
Jaden frowned.
“What?”
“No.”
Tara shook her head. Her heart was suddenly pounding.
“No.”
The office fell silent. Jaden stared at her as if he couldn’t believe what he had just heard.
For several seconds, neither moved. Then his expression hardened slightly.
“Tara.”
“No.”
She took a step backward protectively like a mother standing between danger and her child.
