Tara did not sleep. Every time she closed her eyes, the memories returned.
The night she had spent trying to remember what had happened four years ago. Now she remembered everything. And it was destroying her from the inside.
By morning, she looked like someone holding herself together by force alone.
Still, she went to work. Because life didn’t stop just because her world had cracked open.
The office tower rose above the city like a symbol of power and control. She stepped inside the building, holding her bag. Her step toward the elevator felt heavier.
And with each floor upward, her heartbeat grew louder. By the time she reached Jaden’s floor, her palms were already damp. She step out and stop.
The hallway stretched ahead like a straight line she didn’t want to walk.
