"You've got no place to hide And I'm feeling like a villain, got a hunger inside..." "Yes, mom?" I answered the call. "Good morning, honey. How are you? Have you eaten? Are you in school now?" mom said on the other line, worried. "Woah! Slow down, mom." I chuckled. "I'm sorry Hun. I'm just worried. It's the first time you're away from us," my heart crumpled hearing my mother's wary voice. "I'm doing fine, mama. And yes, I already ate. I'm about to head to school now," I answered. "Alright, good. I'll hang up now. Good luck to your first day, sweetheart." "Bye, mom. Take care," I hang up. I checked myself again in the mirror and when I got satisfied with how my look, I locked my apartment and started walking to school. I plugged in my earphones and scanned my music list. I picked a good playlist and resumed my pace. There are already few students when I arrived in Eastwood High. Most are scholars like me. And some who wants to make out. I headed to the registrar's office to get my allowance for the month and my schedule. The school's registrar wasn't there, yet. I waited in the bench just infront the registrar's office. "Running in circles, coming up tails Heads on a science apart Nobody said it was easy It's such a shame for us to part Nobody said it was easy No one ever said it would be this hard" "Nice voice." I almost fell down when I heard a voice from my back. I quickly turned to see the owner of that voice. "Uh, thanks?" I said to the guy with a charming smile. He has a nice set of teeth flashing at me and his eyes smile, too. He chuckled and walked away. That guy is gonna give me a heart attack. Did I really sing out loud? I thought I was only singing in my mind. I checked the time and it was already 7:20. Holy crap! Classes starts at 8. I waited for another 20 minutes and finally the registrar arrived. I heaved a sigh and started approaching the office. "Good morning, ma'am," I greeted. She is setting her bag on the chair and then she looked at me, strictly. "You are?" she started. "Keirra Mariano, ma'am. The new scholar," I answered. "I'm here to get my allowance and schedule," I continued. "Oh," she started walking towards one of the cabinets and took an envelope. "Here is your allowance for the whole month and schedule for the first semester," then handed me the envelope. "Also, let me remind you of your task in the library every after classes." "Yes. Thank you, ma'am. I'm gonna get going." She only nodded and I took that as a sign to leave. I checked the time again. I'm going to be late so I ran as fast as I could towards my first subject this morning. I was the only person left in the corridors. I was running my life and I failed to notice the big guy in front so I bumped into him. He is carrying books and they scattered when I ran into him. "Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry," I keep on apologizing while helping him get his books. "It's alright," he only replied. He has a deep voice. I almost peed in my pants. "I'm really sorry I didn't see you," I apologized again while handing him his books. He is really tall so I have to look up to see him. I first noticed his damped hair, then his sharp nose and chiseled jawline. He smiled and I quickly looked away. "I'm late, I'll get going. I'm sorry again," I turned around from him and jog towards the classroom since it's just nearby. I realized I was holding my breath. Good thing our teacher wasn't there yet. I immediately looked for a seat and I found one in the front. I proceed toward the chair bit before I could put my bag, the girl seated beside it placed hers on the vacant chair. I looked at her and she only arched her on fleek eyebrow at me. I backed off and searched for another vacant one. And luckily, I found one in the middle-back. I crossed my arms while walking toward it. I set my bag on it and sighed in relief. I am in-between a guy and a girl. I looked at the guy and tilted my head because he looks familiar. And maybe my stare took a while that caused him to chuckle. "Done checking me out?" not looking at me, he said while chuckling. I averted my gaze swiftly. He chuckled again. "Sorry, I thought you're familiar." I said, staring ahead and I felt him look at me. "Oh, right. Miss 'Nice Voice'." He replied that made me look at him again. Now I remembered. He was the 'Smiling Eye'. "And you're 'Smiling Eye'." I said that made him laugh. I saw his nice set of teeth again and pretty eye smile. "Nice nickname," he said and while still laughing. I only smiled and shook my head. He's so weird. I look in front again. "I'm Raphael. Raphael Galvan." He introduced when he finished cackling. He sticks his hand to me. I looked at it before shaking his hand. "I'm Keirra Mariano." "It's nice meeting you, Keirra." He smiled at me, a warm one. I only smiled back because our teacher entered the classroom. Mr. Monticillo was in the middle of saying something when we heard a knock. "Come in," he said and leaned in his chair. Mr. Monticillo is still young. He's probably in his late 30s or early 40s. He is also handsome and fit. His wife is lucky. "Yes, Mr. Lopevega?" "Good morning, Sir." A deep voice filled the room. Everyone was stock-still. Mr. Monticillo gestured the guy to come close, he followed. They talked silently. The girls in my class started murmuring and other squealed. "He's so handsome! I can't believe he came to our classroom." "Well, he went to see me." "Ambitious frog! He's here for me!" I shook my head at them. I looked at the Lopevega guy to check his reaction. And that's when I noticed the familiar damped hair and chiseled features. He was the guy I ran into a while ago! But he doesn't have his books now. My stomach twisted when he suddenly glanced back at me. I stared at his hooded baby blue eyes and he stared back at my hazel's. I held my breath as his stare lingered. I'm feeling like he's seeing my soul right now because of his piercing eyes. He nodded and averted his gaze. Mr. Monticillo dismissed him and he departed at once.
