Arian
The journey back home was filled with me cursing and screaming at anyone unfortunate enough to be in my way.
How could I have let myself go like that?
I pulled into the parking lot of the alpha's mansion, wanting nothing more than to curl up in my bed and forget the stangers from the club, but the lights still on in the house told me I was not going to get that any time soon.
I pushed open the door and was met by the face of the last person I wanted to see.
"Where the hell have you been? Surely you know you are the daughter of the alpha, and you shouldn't be sneaking around with just anyone?" Aliyah, my sister snapped, her hands on her hips as she glared at me.
One would think we were not related by blood, from the favoritism, to the clear dislike she had for me. But we were.
In fact, I had been three years old when our mother had gone into labor and before anyone could come to our aid, that brat had slid out of mum, and right into my tiny hands.
I could still remmeber the blood, and the loud wailing from the tiny pup that would now become the very pain in my ass.
I didn't even want to think how our mother had changed fromt he moment she was born.
"Don't tell me you have been waiting by the door all evening to tell me that?" I retorted, annoyance sliding through my viens.
Usually, no one trully cared where I went, or even noticed. So why the hell was she on my back tonight of all nights?
I walked past her, choosing to ignore her, and prayed it was just her I had to contend with, but of course Aliyah was persistent.
The brat never knew when to read the room!
"I really don't give a s**t what you do, as far as it does not ruin anything for me, Arian, but father has been worried sick about you and kept asking when you will be back. In fact, he was just about to send some pack guards to look for you!"
Her words stopped me.
I turned around, my brows raised in surprise. "What do you mean? I have only been gone a few hours. Nothing out of the ordinary."
Since when was anyone worried about my whereabouts?
She crossed her hands over her chest, her lips forming a snarky pout. "You should ask him. He's waiting for you in his study."
My heart immediately plummetted.
My father did love me in his own way. Which was silently.
I knew he never openly blamed me for being human, but I could always see the regret in his eyes whenever he looked at me.
The door to the study was lightly ajar when I go there, and I stopped in my tracks when I saw my father, not seated, but standing just by his desk, with a worried expression on his face.
"Are you going to stand there all night, or are you going to come in." Alpha Benett, my father spoke, his tone, dispite his expression, comanding.
I quickly stepped in, and moved to close the door when ALiya breezed in past me, going over to our father to entwine her arms around his.
Like I said, the brat never knew when to read the room.
"I would like to speak to your sister, alone, Aliyah." dad said, letting out a tired sigh.
I watched, secretely happy as Aliyah's expression fell, followed by a long minute of her throwing a tantrum. "Since when do you send me out of the room because of her! I'll tell mother!"
Dad looked visibly annoyed. "Even your mother has sat this one out, Aliyah, so do as I say, and don't get me angry!"
Even I was shocked at his tone, and watched as my sister, finally reading the damn room, rushed out of the study, her eyes gleaming with unshed tears.
My father was never harsh on his favorite daughter.
And he would never, for any reason, send her out of his study. Not for me.
Unless whatever it is he wanted to say, was important.
My heart began to thump loudly in my ears as my father turned his gaze to me. "I should not be telling you this, as I'm in no way asking for your permission. But as my heir, you should know that there are responsibiliteies attatched to that role." he turned and walked behind his desk, the air cracking with unseen tension. "This pack has certain standards that should be met, and I have devoted my life to making sure it stays that way, just as I expect you to do."
My brows furrowed at his words, confusion swirling within me.
Dad picked up an folded sheet of paper and extended it to me.
Without a word, I took it from him, and read. Each line, causing my heart rate to thump faster.
"Dad_"
"You will be attending the mating week at Grovehill, Arian. And there is no space for arguement." he stated, interrupting whatever it is I wanted to say. "I need a good alliance for my pack, and just so you know, I'm being kind, allowing you to find your mate, when I have other opportunities."
The way he said the last words
