Under a full moon

A Strange Friend

The bell rang, signaling the beginning of the lunch break. I was glad the history class was finally over, I wasn't sure I could have lasted any longer in there, although I wasn't to excited about the lunch break either, too many prying eyes gathered in one place all at once and then there's Annie. Remember the bullies Autumn saved me from in 4th grade, yeah Annie was their badass queen, and for some reasons we ended up in the same college, I thought she would have out grown that bully phase by now, but she proved she still hated me when she publicly humiliated me in the freshman year, she put glue on the chair I sat on then her and crew started throwing food at me, my friends tried to help me but her crew made sure they couldn't get anywhere near me, I still don't know why she hates me so much tho. Normally Autumn and I will get our lunch and go eat it somewhere else but I knew Autumn, today would be different and it's all thanks to that new kid, Derrek. I laid back on my chair, still in the history class not wanting to stand up my head facing the ceiling with my eyes closed as the rest of the students exited the class. I heard footsteps approaching me and I knew it was Autumn, she stopped right in front me, standing there in silence. I opened my eyes slowly, taking a peep at her, she stood looking at me with a sheepish smile on her face, I knew what she wanted and I wasn't exactly excited about the idea. I reluctantly stood up, murmuring complaints as I rose up, I shot her a reluctant look but she ignored me and dragged me by arm into the cafeteria.

Autumn had just payed for her plate of tuna casserole and joined me at the table, I was having a plate of sloppy Joe, I messed around with my lunch poking it multiple time with my spoon, I was to worried that Annie could come at me at any moment, the room was filled with students talking and laughing as they ate their lunch, I slowly scanned the room trying to find a familiar hateful face, fortunately I didn't notice any of such glare directed towards me, I took a mouthful of my sloppy joe feeling a little bit at ease then I saw Drex and Anna walk into the cafeteria they picked up their lunch and joined us at the table. I ate in silence, listening to Drex tell jokes as we all laughed to it. I took a quick survey of the room making sure I was still safe, No Annie in sight, I was about focusing on my food once more when my eyes met with a familiar face, one I had just seen this morning, his grey eyes met with mine as he got his lunch from the cafeteria lady, he moved towards our table eyes still fixed on me I looked away taking another bite of my food not wanting to make any more eye contact, he got to our table a smile stretched across his face which made him all the more charming "any space left for another"Derrek said standing behind Autumn and Drex holding his lunch in his hands, Autumn had just realised he was there, she spilled soda out her mouth in shock and immediately wiped her face and looked up at him her face beaming with excitement "yes, yes of course" she replied in a loud voice, she pushed Drex who was seated near her off the bench leaving space for Derrek, Drex landed butt first on the floor and shot Autumn a questioning look"hey!, what gives?"he yelled at her, Autumn ignored him, she gestured for Derrek to sit beside her and he took the offer, Drex joined us at the other side of the table sending knives at Autumn with his stare. Derrek set his food on the table sitting beside Autumn who kept staring at him like he was a fine piece of art even though I have to agree that he totally is. Derrek shifted his gaze towards Autumn, she gleams with excitement"I never actually got your name the last time" he said staring at her, "Autumn, Autumn Blair" she answered smiling sheepishly. he turns towards me, those grey eyes piercing through me, they looked even more beautiful this close" and you are?" he asked politely, I was hesitant to answer as I wasn't really fond of meeting new people. I have very few friends and well others which were not my friends mostly bullys and make fun of me especially at school mostly because queen Annie sees to it that my life be made a complete debacle. I finally answered"kendra Johnson" Drex and Anna also told Derrek their names as we spent the rest of the lunch break getting acquainted, Derrek seemed easy going and nice, maybe it isn't all that bad making new friends.

Autumn and I had started spending more time with Derrek and I had grown quite fond of him, we got to know him more as weeks passed by or at least that's what we thought. Class had just begun and I was already bored, I was trying hard not to fall asleep as the biology class went on, I was surprised how people are able to stay awake listening to things we already know.

I looked out the window trying to fix my attention on something else, blankly staring into space, suddenly I saw something moving outside, I shifted my gaze towards it trying to see what it was. It was Derrek, he was heading towards the forest across the street, what is he up to?, I lost sight of him as he entered into Forest, I wasn't exactly the nosy type but my curiosity got the better of me or Derrek did, it's not like I'm stalking him now because I have a crush on him or anything, ok maybe it is kind of what it is, but I wasn't really doing much in the class anyways. I made up an excuse to leave class and immediately made my way out the school into the forest as I got out.

Derrek was nowhere in sight as I walked into the forest, my heart began to pound beneath my chest as I wandered deeper into the forest, I still couldn't find Derrek, as I drew deeper into the forest I could hear low growls and barks coming from the distant, fear fell over me like a dark curtain, could Derrek have been attacked by a wild beast, I moved faster as the growls got louder, my mind racing through different possibilities. The growls got louder as I moved towards it, then two huge wolves came into view much larger than any I've ever seen standing over 3 feet tall, one had a thick black fur with silver grey eyes the other had brown fur with golden yellow eyes. I hid behind a tree as the two beasts battled, the brown wolf pounced at the black wolf, claws aiming for the head of the black wolf, the black wolf leaped back dodging the attack and retaliated with an attack of its own, pouncing on the brown wolf hitting it hard, it fell over landing on its back as the black wolf went for its throat, fangs digging deep into the black wolf's fur as blood oozed out of the beast,what seemed to have been the killing blow, the brown wolf gave out a loud growl, writhing in pain as the black wolf's teeth clenched around its neck , it struggled to get loose, finally toppling over the black wolf breaking free from its clench, the brown wolf got to its feet stepping away from the black wolf, eyes fixed on it . Seeing as Derrek wasn't here I tried to get away from the scene unnoticed, unfortunately I suck at being stealthy, I stepped on a twig which snapped causing an eerie silence in the air, I closed my eyes hoping the beasts hadn't noticed,I slowly opened my eyes which met with a murderous glare, the brown wolf was right in front of me, its fur covered with blood from the bite from earlier. It came at me slowly with murderous intent in its eyes. I stood at a spot, too terrified to move, it leaped towards me coming straight for my chest, I thought I was done for, then the black wolf tackled it from the side in mid air sending it flying the opposite direction, the brown wolf doubled back eyes now fixed on the black wolf looking ready for another attack, the black wolf let out a low growl and barked at the brown wolf what seemed to have been some sort of warning, the brown wolf growled then slowly retreated eyes still fixed on the black wolf, with the brown wolf now completely out of view the black wolf glared at me, those grey eyes piercing through me sending chills down my spine , it slowly moved towards me, then all of a sudden it's fur began to disappear leaving skin in its place, its paws turned to feet and hands, I could hear bones clanking against each other as the beast transformed, then after some seconds I was standing face to face with Derrek shirtless wearing a black trouser, his eyes fixed on mine, unsure of what just happened I passed out overwhelmed with fear and shock.
