Kacey
We all got out of the car and walked over to the mansion. Warren looked at me concerned. "Are you sure that you are ready?"
I nodded. "I am. Let's get this over and done with."
He smiled and took my hand. Around ten of his men stood outside and the rest followed us in making sure that there was no one around. It sounded alarmingly quiet. It was too quiet.
I didn't like it if it was like we would be ambushed at any time, but we wouldn't know until that time. I think Warren seemed to agree with the weirdly seamlessly quiet surroundings. He circled his fingers, they nodded, splitting up, checking everything was clear. When it was, we continued through the abandoned house.
This place brought back so many bad memories. So many ghosts of the past as we continued through the empty house and passed the room where he had held me.
I looked up through my hair and cut my eyes at him. He grabbed my hair, yanking my back. "That's disrespect, honey you are on my territory now. Show some respect!"
"f**k you!"
He let go of my hair, slapping me across the face, splitting her lip. She spat the blood out of her mouth. "You'll show me some goddamn respect!"
"Respect is earned, not given."
"Not in this world, honey."
"Who the hell are you?" I coughed out.
He picked up the glass of water holding my jaw, pouring some in before placing it back on the floor.
"My name is Valentino Miller."
I spat the water out and he wiped his face.
"What do you want with me and how do you know my brother?"
"One question at a time, princess."
"I'm not a princess."
"Oh, I can see that angel, and to answer your question. I was friends with your brother a long time ago before he got attacked. Pity I wasn't there to stop it. And to your first question. I want to know where my brother is."
"I don't know your brother."
"Nice try Kacey. You both went to school together, you were both in the same year."
"Doesn't mean to say I know him. And how the hell do you know my name?"
"Dean Miller, his b***h is Sherry Hemmings." He shuddered. "I know all about you Kacey." He said, guiding his hand down my face. "I have no idea what my brother saw in that b***h when there was beauty like you standing right in his face."
She looked at me, swallowing hard. "What I want to know is simple, Kacey.Where is my brother?"
"I don't know, I swear."
He dropped his hand off my face, taking my hand in his, touching each finger. "Such soft, angelic hands would be a waste if you could no longer use them. "
"What?'
"The truth, Kacey."
"I already told you I don't know."
He bent her finger back, snapping it. I screamed out in pain.
"The truth, Kacey or I will continue till you have no fingers left to use."
"I don't know. I swear."
He snapped the next. I screamed louder.
"LIAR!"
"I'm not. I swear I don't know where he is."
He snapped another and I screamed out again.
The next room was where he had brought Dreads for execution.
I heard the cell door closed and being locked. I knew he was back and he wasn’t alone, but who was with him? He untied the knot on the blindfold, taking it off my eyes. I blinked a few times. “Our guest is here, Angel. I believe you know Dreads. A former drug dealer. He has dealings with the Greens, but I guess you already know that angel.”
I stared blankly at the guy in front of me, he stared at me. His eyes were begging me not to say anything, begging me not to give him away or the fact we knew each other and the fact he knew who had sold his brother the drugs. I had to keep my silence for everyone involved.
“Right now that you are both here and I want to know exactly why my brother was buying drugs and where the hell he is.”
“I don’t know.” They both said at the same time. “Whowh hold the phone? One at a time.”
“I told you already. I don’t know anything about the drugs your brother brought. I didn’t deal with him and if I did I would’ve turned him away.”
“And I told you I don’t know where he is.”
The next thing I didn’t expect but Dreads had. He kept a static face though clearly nervous about being on the receiving end of a loaded gun. I had to do something. I had to stop this.
I looked at Dreads once more. He was sweating, but his eyes were solely on me, begging me to keep my trap shut and he’d take the brunt of it all. I couldn’t let him, he was going to get shot. Orlando would never forgive me. I looked at him one last time. He stared at me and nodded at me, telling me it was okay and Orlando would understand that I gave Dreads life to save my own, but I wasn’t sure how long it would be safe for.
He pulled out a gun and cranked it. “Either one of you is lying or both of you. Now which one is it?”
“I’m not lying.”
“Me neither.”
“For fucksake, one of you is lying.” He looked at me. “I’ll give you one last chance then I’ll ask one important question to Kacey and I want the truth.” He then looked at Dreads. “Who sold the drugs to my brother?”
“I don’t know. Even if I did, I couldn’t tell you, it’s against regs.”
“Bull shit.” I put the gun to his head. “Kacey angel, do you know who he is and where my brother is?”
I contemplated my answer before saying, “No I don’t, to both.”
BANG!
“No!” I screamed out, hysterically.
"Hey, are you okay?" Warren asked in concern.
"Yeah I'm fine. Just remembering the past."
He nodded. "Sorry for bringing you back to your worst nightmare, Kacey, but you are our only hope to find Dreads and lay him to rest."
"I know."
We continued through the mansion when suddenly an ungodly smell of death wafted through the corridors. "What in god's name.."
"I think we found what we came here for."
"It didn't smell the last time we came here."
"There wasn't any decaying and rotting flesh before, Mulvey."
He nodded in agreement and we all continued down the stairwell when the rotting deathly smell hit us even more. They'd left the poor guy to rot here without giving him a proper burial.
"I thought that they may have had the decency to burn the body, f**k. I'm going to throw up." Mulvey said, placing his hand over his mouth, gagging.
"This is the Millers we are talking about, Mulvey. They are heartless bastards."
I couldn't agree more. As we got closer, I could see how badly the body was decaying, the flies buzzing all around the battered black decaying body. Everything went black and I dropped to the ground, losing consciousness.
Orlando
We tailed Warren and Mulvey to the Millers. Why the hell were they here?
I'd never seen this place so quiet. Where the hell were all of the guards?
"What shall we discuss, bro?"
"Just sit back and watch. We need to know if the girls are with them and, if not, we need to follow them. Hopefully, they will lead us straight to Kacey and Milly."
He nodded and we watched all of them get out of the car. He held his hand out and we watched as he helped a girl out of the car and closed the car door.
"Is... that…"
"It's Kacey."
"So where's Milly?"
"I don't know, bro. Maybe she's been kept somewhere."
"What if they killed her?"
"I'm sure they would have killed them both, they are no use to them."
"What if they get rid of Kacey after they've got what they need her to do here?"
Shit, I never thought of that.
The Millers weren’t around. We all know they went upstate into hiding after what had conspired here, but it looks like these guys didn't know that. Kacey looked well intact, she seemed happy or was all of this just a show?
We all knew what Warren did. Mulvey was like it. There's no way they would have a soft spot for two unknown girls, especially ones that have something to do with us after the death of Dreads. Every drug lord was after our heads and not wanting to know the truth, only Kacey knew the entire truth. We only knew half. If she had said harm, she would be dead right now. Nor with them going into the Millers unless it was a to shoot her dead in there to Dread's being shot by a Miller.
We watched and waited until around an hour had passed when we spotted them coming out with a body bag. We gulped, fearing the worst. Fearing that they had turned on her and shot her dead.
The back doors of the van opened and they slid the body bag in, closing the back doors and locking them before returning to the driver and passenger side of the van, getting on closing the doors before pulling away, two cars following it. "No she can't be. She can't be dead. " I said repeatedly.
Daniel nudged me and I looked up. Warren was carrying a very limp body in his arms. Mulvey opened the back door and Warren slid the limp body in. Mulvey closed the door then got into the passenger seat and the car pulled away.
"Follow them."
Our car pulled away. "You don't think?"
"Only one way, to follow them."
"So whose body do you think is in the bag?"
"There's only one I can think of."
We looked at each other. "Dreads."
We nodded in agreement. The drug bosses of the underworld had been looking for his body for months with no luck to lay him to rest and celebrate his life.
