At the office they shared, Ren and Rhys looked up from each of their phones to meet each other’s eyes.
“What do you think?” Ren asked.
Just as vaguely, Rhys answered, “I think we can safely wrap up work by 3—4 at the latest.”
“I think so too,” Ren said with a nod. He turned back to his desk and added offhandedly, “Let’s pick Mei and Bella up on the way.”
“Let’s.”

When Arden returned to the office, more than half of his coworkers had already arrived, with some of them doing their own little preparations before starting work.
Expecting that he’d once again be handed other responsibilities, Arden approached Patrick at his desk.
The man looked over Arden’s shoulder before asking, “Is Kade not back with you?”
Arden maintained a blank face. He had made sure to pop into a restroom to
