“Go ahead and sit over at the couches,” Kade said cheerlessly after ushering his guests into the apartment. “I’ll get us snacks and drinks.”
“Forget about that,” Ren replied, stopping him. “Just tell us what’s going on, Kade.”
Instead of relenting, Kade simply compromised.
“Let’s all go to the kitchen,” he said.
As he and the others filed into that corner of the apartment, all of them were once again silent while Kade continued to feel deflated.
He supposed he should have expected that his friends wouldn’t automatically feel happy for him. Not without knowing the full story of how that kiss mark ended up on his nape. But it never crossed his mind that what was between him and Arden could end up being dismissed—just because it was all happening “too quickly.”
