ELENA We've been driving for about two hours when we reach the fork in the road where we're supposed to diverge from the original route. The southern coastal road veers off to the left while the northern point continues straight ahead. My route is longer, but the vantage point is stronger. It has fewer trees which could shield attackers and the topography is smooth, allowing for an easy escape in case anything happens. We continue straight ahead, staying on the northern mountain route.
