ELENA Drake brushes past me, his shoulder slightly bumping into mine, causing me to stumble forward a little. I hold onto the edge of the counter, steadying myself from toppling over, watching as Drake crouches and scoops Rosa to her feet. “Are you okay?” he whispers to her, checking her dress and her body. She shakes her head negatively, still clutching the side of her face where I hit her. I could see the fake tears brimming in her eyes, threatening to fall but never falling. Drake’s head snaps toward me, his eyes folding into intense slits.
