ELENA I gasp awake, my chest constricting, my heart hurrying in my chest as I look around. The strong smell of antiseptic shoves its way down nostrils, and the bright filtering from the high rise windows refract from the immaculate sheets. There’s a steady beep, constant by my side, and a ruffled breathing as well.
