ELENA I stretch, curiously tapping the side of my bed where Drake had stayed the other night but it’s empty. I yawn. I didn’t expect him to stay all night, I scoff at myself as my eyes flutter open. I wince at the jarring morning light and turn over toward the other end where the alarm clock sits pretty: eight am. I gasp, the sleep fading from my eyes. Halo will be late for school. I jolt from my bed. I need to prepare him, make breakfast, drive him to school….what was I thinking sleeping for this long? I run my hands through my hair, scanning the ground for my flip flops.
