Mending Souls

Chapter 8

"Sir, I have sent you an e-mail regarding the additional data that I found and sorry it took me more time than required. Also, I am finding other information about their connection with your father," the detective whom Xenith have asked to look into Emily's family informed on the call.

"Two weeks...Fucking two weeks you took to dig in the information and now you are asking for more time. Listen I don't have that much time to waste, I have already allotted this work to someone else and now I don't require any sort of association with you" Xenith cut the call without listening to another word from the caller which intrigued Zain who asked him what happened as he heard Xenith lashing out on someone when he entered his study.

"That good for nothing detective he could only find out her background and after two weeks he is calling me and asking more time to try and find the relevant evidence about their connection with my father" Xenith replied opening his email to see what's new info he had sent, to which Zain also join him.

Both of them were appalled with the new finding. It gave out the information about Emily's father who was charged with embezzlement by a company where he works a year ago but was released due to lack of proof whilst in reality, he has done the deed. Also, her stepbrother is indulged with some sort of gang, in addition, he is involved with every illegal activity that one can think of but always gets away from cops clutches due to his lucky stars.

With a heavy sigh, Xenith asserts, "I don't understand what kind of family is this. Hope your recommended person can dig out the proof, even if required ask him to dig in the grave too and inform him about this new finding so that we can get to know the truth behind it", to which Zain nods who has made himself comfortable on the chair opposite Xenith.

When Xenith was calm enough Zain requested him, "Xen, Just imagine you are having a father who was held for embezzlement, a cunning and abusive lady as a step-mother and a brother,  you don't know if he is your half-sibling or step one and is involved with gangs...this so-called family of yours is making you work so that they can use your money and had always considered you as trash... what sort of feelings and mindset you will have" Zain speaks combining the info the detective has sent a week before about Emily's family and the remaining ones now.

"I don't know Zain, what sort of feeling I would have or right now that girl is going through but you should understand that I have the similar type of family situation, characters are same but jobs are different, yes I have not gone through abuses the way she has... but I know there are many parts in this story that are missing out about her," based on his intuitions he educates Zain about the lack of information.

"At least we know she is innocent and she is also a victim of this conspiracy. So I hope you will behave with her without showing any sort of attitude" Zain pleads him in a requesting tone

"Come on Zain why are you demeaning me? I would never cross my limits with her even if she was involved in all this. You should know that and ya, I was mad at her that day because she was accusing me of things that I never did nor know about it but after that, I have never said anything to her neither ever blamed her...nor has spoken to her, even right now doesn't wish to do so until I have enough proof to do so" Xenith replied getting disheartened by Zain's words.

"Bro I didn't mean that... It's just I want you both to maintain peace, maybe this way we can know the missing parts and her side of the story that you are trying to find out. The possibilities are maybe we can get that part of the story only from her and not from the detective" Zain explained to him learning how Xenith got disappointed with his words.

"As you wish... I am not interested in having any sort of fight with her nor in getting those accusing glares from her" Xenith stood up, he looked at the waves of the ocean washing off the shore through his french windows spoke in a nonchalant way seeming quite offended. In the meantime, Lucy knock's the door and informed them that the dinner was ready.

"Where is Emily... Isn't she joining us for dinner also, today she didn't come for lunch too" Zain asked lucy to which she replied, "I Don't know sir, as Xenith sir had asked before, I took the lunch to her room but she said that she was not hungry and when I insisted she told me to keep it on the table.. when I visited back to take the dishes, the food was untouched and she was still working... Before calling you both for the dinner I called her too but again the same reply, nor she comes out from her room to eat by herself", with a pause Lucy added further

"One more thing sir last week she didn't came out from the room and this week she used to go out but is not eating at home for sure except having water", listening to this Zain looked at Xenith who also seems clueless about her behaviour and clear his side "I didn't said anything to her, she is doing it since the time she stepped in the house and I don't know why she is taking out her anger on food... Lately, that will sadly affect her health only, she should understand that"

Zain got up and starts walking towards Emily's room hearing Xenith's words, "She will listen to you... Do u think so", Xenith asked raising his eyebrows" to which Zain smirked, "If not then I have my ways"

"I am waiting here. Hope so that you are not thrown out of her room, it would be good if she throws you out of the door in the corridor but in case if she throws you out of that open balcony of her's then let me know... I will call the doctor and prepare everything for you" Xenith teasingly replied and hearing that lucy laughed but when Zain looked at her she started arranging the food.

"Ohhh... So someone sounds enough confident, but if I got succeeded in bringing her down and eat with us then you have to listen and do whatever I ask for a week... If not then I will be your slave" Zain betted to which Xenith showed him thumbs up.
