Chapter Seven Smoke rose into the sky. There was no mistaking what was going on at the beach. If we'd been lost, we'd still have been able to find our way. Though I was fairly certain that was an oxymoron. The closer we got, the more obvious it became. People were shouting and singing, generally sounding like they were having fun. I was suddenly rather glad we hadn't been here from the start. The thought of socialising with Esmee just turned my stomach.
