Last night was amazing but also enlightening. I had always known Bela's father was distant and watched everything. I just never thought it would be because he had seen so much in his life. I couldn't imagine how it would feel to watch not one but two packs destroy themselves. Then, to top it off, his beloved mate succumbed to injuries from a battle after fighting for so long.
I was only a young pup when it happened. I remember going with my mother several times to see her. She had a smile that reached all the way to her ears. Mother would ask me to help her work the legs and rub her back. I never knew what had happened. I was only told that she fought bravely and should be honored for all she did for the pack.
