The next morning, Zelia awoke to the sound of Ernest's ringtone. Ernest had already gotten up and was in the shower. He shouted from the bathroom, asking her to pick up the call on his behalf and put it on speaker. Hesitant but curious, Zelia agreed and took a deep breath before answering, her eyes fixed on the caller ID. Before she could speak, an angry voice erupted from the other end, causing her to freeze.
"What the hell is this? I'm hearing about my son being engaged to a different person than who I know? What is going on in that deranged mind of yours?" The voice on the other end bellowed.
Ernest, sensing the change in Zelia's demeanour, quickly rushed to her side, wrapping his arms around her to provide comfort and support. He knew the conversation would be difficult to navigate.
