After unpacking their belongings, they gathered in the living room and decided to play some traditional board games: Ludu, Oware, and Dame (also known as Draft).
During Ludu, Zelia let them play while she joined Mrs. Annan to prepare supper. She wanted to give the children an opportunity to bond with Ernest, even if it was just through games. Ernest ended up choosing to play last, which meant he was assigned the color red.
"I like yellow, so I will play for yellow," Eliana exclaimed eagerly.
"I'll go for green because that's my colour," Layla chimed in.
Ethan turned to Ernest and asked, "What colour are you playing for?"
Ernest, in turn, asked, "What colour do you want, son?"
