Chapter Seventeen RJ stood at the window, half-naked and watching one of the sorting buildings start to smoke. He’d started the small fire under a pallet of tobacco in the sorting room to give himself plenty of time to get back to the house and get undressed. No one would suspect it was him if they had to come and find him at the house. Soon enough the old building would be fully engulfed and burning like a five-alarm fire. There weren’t any sprinklers in the old room, just pallets of tobacco, wooden tables, stools, and an old radio that the workers listened to as they sorted. It didn’t hurt that they were Sofia’s bundles, either. He didn’t want to torch perfectly good tobacco for his own cigars, but burning up Sofia’s product was just good business sense.
