The Butcher Beast was never brought to justice. No arrests were ever made, no viable suspects identified. Three weeks after the murder of Michelle St. Clair the monster claimed his final accredited victim, a nineteen-year old bank clerk by the name of Genevieve de la Salle.
Though the investigation continued, the police remained as much in the dark as to the killer"s identity as they had been in the beginning. The police were eventually forced to conclude that the murderer had been a summer visitor to Paris; an itinerant worker perhaps, or a student, someone who had lived amongst them for a short time, only to make an eventual return to his own homeland. There was also the possibility that the murderer had died himself, and the police were quick to investigate the background
