Dad's face went completely white, and he immediately started begging for forgiveness like a man possessed. One minute, he rambled that he'd failed miserably at raising me. The next, he rambled that Rachel's soft-hearted act had blinded him completely. I was sick of listening to his fake, groveling apology, so I told him to just go home.
