Chapter thirty-six

1101 Words
Two weeks, a whole lunar cycle, had passed since the pack bond had been established with Ndeye and she, in turn, had marked Moha. However, she had still not completed her mutation and had her first transformation. She had even been ill since then. She has been in bed since then and her condition has only worsened day by day, making everyone fear the worst. Even the healers of the pack could do nothing about it. No one understood what was going on with Ndeye, but they kept hoping and praying for her because Coumba had been able to transform after ten days. On the evening of the full moon, feeling better, she had decided to cook dinner with Moha's help when she suddenly felt dizzy and fainted while preparing the meal. When she opened her eyes, she was in a forest so beautiful that she was breathless. She could not believe that such a place existed on earth. Unable to hold back her admiration, she struggled to her feet and started walking without knowing where to go, just following her instincts and her desire to discover. She did not have to walk too far, however, because after a while she came to a cliff and immediately wanted to turn back. However, she noticed an unusual figure standing almost at the end of the cliff. Worried about her, she cautiously approached her intending to convince her to follow. A few steps away, she realized that she was dealing with a she-wolf; a special one. Sitting upright, looking towards the horizon, she had a unique white coat and was very tall. She was almost the size of Aras. _ What took you so long? I was waiting for you! exclaimed the she-wolf, communicating with her as Aras did, bringing her out of her contemplation. _ Who... Who are you? _ Me? You don't know? _ Ah... I don't know. This is the first time we've met. _ Who are you, then? _ Guess. White fur, opposite color to black, as tall as a macaw and... Goddess! _ You're my wolf. _ Exactly, I'm Lys, your she-wolf. _ You are really beautiful and impressive! _ Thank you very much. _ So where are we and why are we here? _ This is the place where I've had to live alone for just over eighteen years. _ Eighteen years? Do you mean since I was born? I wasn't born a wolf! _ You are different and you will understand that later. As proof, you are the Supreme Luna. As for why I brought you here, you are strangely too weak to merge and have your first transformation and it is a full moon night. That's why you've been unwell for a few days. _ How is this possible? I read the book written by the Luna two generations ago about the transformations of the Luna and there was never such a case. _ I can't explain it myself. You shouldn't have had such a problem, considering your particularity. _ I may be suffering from a certain disease. _ Not that I know of. _ What to do then? _ I have an idea and that's why I brought you here. At least it'll be less painful than if you're conscious. _ And if we fail. _ You'll be stuck here with me for a hundred years. _ What? So it's too risky. _ But it's either this or you suffer until we end up dead together. _ I see. I don't have a choice anymore. So go ahead. Without warning, Lys jumped into the void. Ndeye lost but above all very worried about losing her even though she had just met her, hesitated for a moment before jumping in. If they were going to die, they might as well not leave at the same time, because that would surely mean the same thing as not jumping. Sooner or later she would die from the loss of her other half. Soon, as Lys was about to hit the ground, Ndeye made contact with her. A bright light came out of nowhere to blind them as Ndeye felt herself melting into Lys' body. At this point, her body began to convulse and her temperature soared in front of an overwhelmed Moha who found her unconscious when he returned home. Aras had to intervene to tell him that the fusion between Ndeye and his wolf had begun and force him to give him control so that she could be led to the nearest forest. When they arrived at the forest of Mbao, Aras noticed that something was wrong with the fusion. Ndeye, who should have regained consciousness, was still asleep and her convulsions were accelerating as her temperature rose to the point where the ground around them was beginning to heat up. It looked as if there was going to be a volcanic eruption. Volcanic eruption? It seemed that Ndeye was special. So he had to urgently keep everyone away from where they were and seek help from his father. However, he could not get more than a kilometer away from Ndeye, blocked by an invisible barrier. She had already taken the necessary precautions! He had no choice but to stand by and watch her suffer helplessly, his aura having no effect. And so it went on until, when the moon was at its highest point in the sky, she suddenly began to levitate in the air, Aras, speechless. As soon as she touched the ground again, she began to transform without making a sound of pain or opening her eyes. When the transformation was complete, a powerful centrifugal wind swept around for miles, alerting everyone in the area to the incredible event that was taking place. Having closed his eyes, Aras was surprised when he reopened them to see Lys staring at him, more precisely at the color of his coat. It was supposed to be the same color as his and she was not supposed to be that big. She could compete with him. Excited for her part, she started to move towards him to fall, a stranger in space. Aras rushed to her side to help her up and this time she did not fall again. Instinctively, she moved forward leaving Aras to the center of the space in which he had been confined earlier, shouting to the moon in a voice so powerful that Aras shuddered to make everyone understand that the Supreme Luna had finally been accomplished. All now owed as much submission and respect to her as to the Supreme Alpha.
