Chapter twenty-nine

1326 Words
_ So, how is our impure supreme Luna? Interrupting Ndeye, who was quietly reading a book dating back several centuries, Ma'Khady lashed out at her for the umpteenth time. In fact, since the day after Ndeye confesses to Moha, she had not stopped bothering her, terrorizing her, and scaring her. Fearing that she might be proven right and attacked, Ndeye suffered without daring to tell anyone, not even Moha or his mother, who could see that something was wrong. _ Do you dare to ignore me? Ma'Khady asked, snapping her out of her reverie with a firm grip on her neck. _ I... I... _ That's it. Stammer like the less than nothing that you are. You did indeed seem to have forgotten your place for a short while. _ Please... Please! Not again! _ Not yet? Mademoiselle does not wish to be reminded of her place, I see. So I will not deny myself the honor and pleasure of doing so. _ I... _ Shut up! (snatching the book from his hands and throwing it away) _ Don't think that just because you read or are Moha's soul mate you will ever become cultured, climb the ladder to my level, let alone surpass me. You are and will remain nothing more than a weak, ignorant and powerless orphan. Besides, even the greatest of the girls of joy is better than you, the former s*x toy of the famous Khadim. You are not worth... _ Stop! I... (Yelling) Please, please, please, please! Stop it! _ You s**t! Do you dare to yell at me?  You'll see! (Taking her by the arm to drag her along) _ You'll see what I'm made of if you don't let go of her arm right now! Intervened Moha, out of nowhere. _ I... It's not what you think! (Hastily releasing Ndeye) _ .... He ignored her and went forward to take Ndeye in his arms and she started to cry. _ Are you okay? he asked her. _ It's not what you think... It's .... She started it. _ Did she? By doing what? Begging you not to go after her again? Begging you to stop? _ I... You... _ That's what you think. Then I'd like to know what right you have to go after Ndeye. _ I... I'm just... _ I'm warning you. The next time you want to attack her physically or verbally, make sure you've already dug your grave because I won't spare you. Have I made myself clear? (Choking her) _ O... Yes. _ Good! (Releasing her) One more thing! Take a good look at her! Rain or shine. Whether you like it or not, virgin or defiled, human or she-wolf, weak or strong, despised or loved, innocent or guilty, she is and will remain my only soul mate. Try to hold it back. As soon as he had finished speaking, Ma'Khady did not hesitate to run away in terror. She had indeed seen him in different aspects since she knew Moha, but she had never seen him like this. He was extremely calm but at the same time, he was enraged not to mention his chilling aura that hung in the air. All because of Ndeye! Left alone, Moha accompanied Ndeye to the living room where, once they were settled, he tried to get her to talk about Ma'Khady's behavior towards her over the last few days but failed at the first attempt. When he finally managed to convince her after a while to tell him everything, they were interrupted by Mahmoud. _ Excuse me for barging in unannounced, but there's an urgent call for you, Moha. _ Who is it? _ You'd better come and find out. _ I'll come with you. _ I'm sorry, but it's better not to come with us, Luna. _ Trust me and wait for me. It's okay. _ Who is it that calls so that I can't be allowed to know? I demand to know as the supreme Luna. _ Alpha? May I? _ I'm not sure. Why not tell her? _ I don't think that's wise. _ But she won't let me come over otherwise. _ But... _ Are you going to tell me who's calling at the end? _ It's Aziz. _ I'll go with you then. _ But... _ I don't want to hear any buts. _ You'll have to because... _ It's been three years since Moha left and this is the first time he's called. So no one can stop me from attending this call. Faced with her determination, Moha had no choice but to let her go to his office with him to answer Aziz's call, which he put on speakerphone. Telephone conversation: Moha: Hello Aziz. Aziz: Hello Alpha. Moha: I hope that... Aziz: I'm sorry to interrupt you Alpha but we don't have time for formalities. Time is of the essence. Moha: I am listening. Aziz: After three years of research, we have just found out what happened to our famous disappeared. Moha And I have a feeling that we are not going to like it. Aziz: Indeed, because they are not missing. They were kidn*pped by the successor of Khadim whose men had previously had us. They have kidn*pped many people in the last few years, especially in the last quarter. Moha: How did we miss all this? And who is our new opponent? Aziz: His name is Pape Matar Ndiaye. Ndeye: Pa... Pape Matar Ndiaye?! Aziz: Alpha? Moha: Do you know him? Aziz, Can someone explain him to me? Moha: Sorry I didn't tell you earlier but the phone is on speaker and it's Ndeye next to me. Aziz: Alpha! I told Mahmoud to keep her out of this discussion. Moha: It's not our fault. She is the one who insisted on being here. Aziz: I see. Moha: So who is this Pape Matar, Ndeye? Ndeye: The only son of ..... Khadim. Moha & Aziz: That's not true! Ndeye: He .... He surely wants to avenge him. You... Have you found Coumba? Aziz: I... I can't say because I don't know her, unfortunately. But we were able to take some pictures yesterday of the captives, during our little intrusion into their lair. I'll send them to you if you want. Moha: Send them right away, but also any information you have about their hideout. Aziz: All right! Moha: Be ready and see you soon. Aziz: See you soon. Dumbfounded by what she had just heard, Ndeye immediately sat up, holding her head. Moha, for his part, came to embrace her to comfort her. But his phone rang to signal the arrival of Aziz's messages. Not wanting to part with Ndeye, he entrusted it to Mahmoud, whom he had sent for. Mahmoud connected the phone to Moha's computer and programmed the images to be projected before leaving them alone. The pictures began to scroll on the screen in front of Moha, unwavering, and Ndeye, who saw her face decompose as the pictures went by. Eventually, fearing that she would have a panic attack, Moha silently took her hand. This unexpected but intended contact was enough to calm her down, but it didn't last long, because when a picture of a girl lying on the floor in a fetal position and another of the same person with her face visible appeared on the screen, she stood up abruptly, breaking contact with Moha. _ Stop! she shouted. Trembling, she moved slowly towards the screen before stopping in front of it and putting her hand on it. Her shaking became more pronounced, causing her to drop her legs. On the ground, she burst into tears. Hesitating as to what to do, Moha was forced to intervene when she began to run out of air, probably having a panic attack as he feared. When he finally managed to calm her down, she whispered a name to him before sinking. _ Ndeye Coumba Kane.
