CHAPTER 13 Lyra's POV Malrik and I rarely spoke after the meeting I had with the council. He stayed completely away from me while I learnt more about his kingdom from the books he gave me. It wasn't easy avoiding him but he seemed comfortable staying away from me. After three days of my policy shift, the effects became undeniable and the elders wouldn't stop talking about it. It indeed caused more fraction among the Elders as they countered themselves at every discussion. The fraction between the Elders made it amusing to watch them argue. The moment I had waited for. Elder Hudson called for an emergency session to speak concerning the policy, noting that someone other Elders were in support of it. Elder Oran publicly during the meeting, praises the Wolf King for wise decision. "A bold new vision." He complimented me. "We would love to see more of this." He added, smiling at me and I nodded. "Really?" Elder Thessa asked. "Do you think this is truly the better decision at this moment? I believe we should consider this again before making such a decision." She added, expressing cautious support. "Why will you say so?" Elder Oran asked. "This is good enough to have for us, I don't see any more reason to reconsider this after all the Wolf king had made his decision clear." He added, considering the fact that the policy was for his benefit. The perfect thing I wanted. I didn't have to argue too much with them, they would fight against themselves without me getting involved. My eyes sauntered the hall, it landed on Elder Cael. He stood among the others, remaining neutral but not opposed. Elder Theresa also stood back watching Elder Oran who had challenged her. "I believe this–" "This is madness," Hudson roars furiously. He had called for that emergency session, demanding that I reverse the policy but the disagreement between the Elders was frustrating to him. "You're destabilizing the realm!" He added. I stared at him while he frowned at me. I leaned back, before responding. "I'm strengthening the realm by diversifying our alliances." I replied, calmly in Marlik's voice but that pissed Hudson even more. His eyes narrowed. "Ravenwood is YOUR ancestral ally!" He yelled. "Yet you call this strengthening?" "Ancestral ally?" I asked, picking up on his words while watching him glare. "My father is dead," I replied, in a cold voice. An echo of gasps went across the room, while the elders exchanged glances. "He–" "And his alliances died with him," I replied, interrupting Hudson. The council was shocked by sudden words but I didn't care. I wanted to make my decision and made sure no one could ask further questions. I had to be excused soon and I didn't bother about the gravity of my words. I only cared about anything that gave me more reasons to make them quit and that was a perfect one. A sign to let them know they weren't winning against me. "Your Majesty," Elder Theresa called in a surprised tone. "Why would you say such a statement, your Majesty?" She asked, sounding rather worried but I scoffed inwardly. "This is right," Hudson said. "This shouldn't be heard." He added and I stood on my feet. "You don't tell me what to say," I yelled. "It's not proper to utter such a word–" Hudson yelled but I interrupted him. "I have made my decision concerning this discussion and I don't want anyone bringing up any discussion concerning this again," I said. "If anyone does it, I would assume such an act as an act of disobedience to me and it won't be treated with levity," I added and they murmured among themselves. "What is wrong with his Majesty?" I heard one of them was made but I ignored it. After a moment of watching them I nodded and spoke once again. "You all are dismissed," I announced, stepping out of the meeting room. I returned to Marlik's suite but took a book on his shelf to resume what I had been learning concerning the law of Marlik's Kingdom. I paused when I sensed Marlik's presence and he stepped out of the room with a book in his hands. He had been reading. "I dealt properly with the council today," I explained but he ignored me. He gazed completely on the book in his hand. "There won't be any more discussion about the policy," I added but he still ignored it. I walked closer to him, wanting to hear him tell me something concerning my decision. I stopped in front of him but he had his gaze fixed on the book in his hand. "You won't respond to that?" I asked, he glanced at before returning to what he was reading. "I just mentioned that the Elders won't disturb me anymore," I added and he raised his eyes sharply. Our gaze met and he rushed up to me immediately. "You talk too much." He said, pinning me by the wrist. I gasped, while he gazed at me angrily but I hoped I could melt the anger all away. His eyes stained my face and after a while he made to pull away but I covered the distance between us quickly, connecting our lips with the aim of melting away his anger. I leaned closer to him, kissing him savagely, claiming every part of him. He didn't struggle with the kiss either, as he had his hands wrapped behind my back. The air between us thinkened as the world spinned. I felt my tightened n*****s and I rubbed them against his broad chest, as it poked through the chest. My c**t hitches terribly wanting to feel him inside of me. That's when I realized I was back to my body. I shut my eyes, enjoying every bit of the moment. Malrik growls, lifting me onto the table as his hands yank at my clothing. He was treating me exactly the way I wanted, how could he turn out to be that perfect at everything? My body shook in excitement as I longed more to have him but we had to stop. One of us had to stop. "We can't," I grasped, pulling away. "Someone could—" "I don't care," Malrik snarled, mouth on my throat. His hand found my breast. He squeezed them gently and my body vibrated at his touch, I Goodness. I didn't want him to stop. I didn't care anymore, I only wanted to be lost in his arms. I bite my lower lip, shutting my eyes in pleasure as I wrap my arms around his neck. Allowing him to do as he pleased with me. Just as his other hand reaches between my legs. The door burst open and we springed apart, swapping again. We both turned sharply to the door to behold Corvin standing in the doorway, eyes widened. "Your Majesty," Corvin called, surprised. "There's been another attempt." He finally announced, when I uttered not a word. I raised my brow, confused at what could be the case again. Were the council at it again? I straightened my tunic. "Another attempt on my life?" I asked. "No, sire," Corvin said grimly, his eyes darted to Marlik in my body. "On hers." He muttered and he gestured to him. "What do you mean?" I asked, demanding a proper explanation. "What happened this time?" "Your chambers," He paused, probably considering whether to tell me in Marlik's presence. "Speak on," I replied and he nodded. "Someone left a poisoned knife under her pillow." He said. Marlik and I exchanged glances, with his brow furrowed. It was the council again. They were escalating and at that rate, I was scared I might not be able to protect Marlik and I before the day of my revenge comes. Would I ever get out of that?
