1093 Words
The car was like nothing Gabriellehad even seen before, it was huge. She caught the name of it as she went in, a Mercedes G-Wagon, and this family had two. Daniel was so excited in the car, jumping around trying see everything, There were two ipads on the back seats with bows on, one pink and one blue. Timo got into the drivers seat and said they were a gift for Gabrielle and Daniel, ‘to make you feel welcome’ he smiled.  Daniels already had various games on it, Gabrielle want unable to take it all in. The ipads were brand new and had been engraved with their names on the back. Uncle Jack sniffed, Gabriellecould sense his judgment. They were used to anything like this, their homes had always been humble and in the town where they had lived people rarely had spare money, getting any car was exciting let alone one like this.  The ride was long and after three hours they pulled into what looked like a restaurants car park, Daniel had been trying out his new ipad playing and testing all the games and his excitement was infectious, even uncle Jack had started playing with him, Gabriellehad spent most of the journey thinking, she was quiet and liked looking outside the windows. Every so often she thought Timo was watching her through his mirror but whenever she glanced up his eyes were firmly set on the road.  As their car and the one following with their luggage drew up, Timo got out, opening the backdoor for them. ‘Lucian said he would meet you here for lunch, help break up the road trip’ he smiled as they got out the can.Gabrielle reached up, stretching her arms and back. She untied her hair again, letting it fall down over her shoulders and affectionately ruffled Daniels hair, he pulled away laughing. She smiled down at her little brother. Taking in his delicate small features, he always reminded her of a little elf, he had their fathers dark hair and pale skin, but unlike her bright green eyes his were a solemn brown, they looked wise.  His tiny mouth was smiling, and he clutched the ipad close to his chest, not wanting to let it go. Their Uncle got out of the car and looked around, they were in a large restaurants car park, it looked smart. The grass outside was almost covered with beautiful flowers. Gabriellefelt self-conscious, this place looked fancier than they were used to. Daniel was wearing comfortable jeans and a top underneath his coat but he was only little, she had also chosen comfortable clothing for the flight. A white polo top and black jeans, ‘Maybe we should change into something a bit smarter?’ she said out loud, she wasn’t really expecting an answer when her Uncle replied, ‘for who? This is Daniels uncle that we are meeting, no need to try and impress anyone’.  His response surprised Gabrielle, usually he wasn’t hostile, and Timo who had heard frowned. This made Gabriellefeel even more self conscious. She looked away from both men, and quietly followed Timo into the restaurant.  The manage stood waiting to greet them, telling his guests that a special table had been prepared, the restaurant was very grand. The white table cloth, more cutlery then you could even need, super shiny glasses type of grand and Gabrielleshifted. She really wished she had changed, or at the very least she had brushed her hair.    Lucians POV He was running late which he hated. His military training taught him to be on time and any lateness was never an excuse. His mother was tense all week, she had completely redecorated the guest room in anticipation, freshly painted, new furniture, nothing was too good for her grandson. Her only grandson. The loss of her daughter had nearly killed her and Lucian had called their private doctore to the house. Kade, his younger brother had barely left their mothers side, this meant Lucian needed to do both their work which was troublesome. But at least he was able to get out the house. His frustration at the fuss his mother was making made it hard for him to be around her.  She had called a interior designer in, wanting it to look modern and fresh and Kade had managed to persuade their mother that the whole house didn’t need to be redecorated for the arrival. But the morning of an phone call had delayed both the brothers.  He arrived at the back carpark of the restaurant, his brother by his side. They were able to watch to two cars arrive and say the girl and her brother step out. ‘Who’s the older guy with them?’ Kade asked, ‘some uncle’ Lucian replied.  He watched his new nephew smiling as he got out the car, the little boy was holding onto the ipad Kade had arranged for him like he was afraid someone might take it. The girl got out and started stretching, her white top rose as she did and exposed her falt stomach, she looked young but the way her clothes hugged her showed her body was that of a womens. It was full in all the right places, a slim hourglass with a leaness that came from natural fitness. She looked around taking everything in, even from a distance he could see she was pretty, she shook out her long dark hair, she looked fragile.  ‘She’s cute’ Kade said, both brothers had wanted to see their new family before meeting them. ‘no different to the photo Timo sent us,’ Timo was an ex-army friend, he was also the families trusted bodyguard and had arranged for a full background investigation. The little boy was the really focus of their attention, neither had a son and for their family this meant he was not only the youngest, but having been through so much he would be protected at all costs.  After they entered the men got out from their cars, ‘dude’ Kade said before Lucian turned to head in, ‘you think we should leave our guns in the car?’ Lucian thought about it for a moment, the two were always armed but they didn’t want to frighten the kid, but then if something happened, they might need them, ‘No’ he replied, ‘just in case’.
