BIRDIE'S POV "Vance!" I shrieked "Birdie." He coughed up more blood than before, and then he fell. "Vance!" The sight of the pieces of wood lodged in his back made me scream. "Please stay with me." I broke down on the floor and cried out, pleading. A hand grabbed me from the back. "Let me go!" I screamed biting the hand. Before the two seconds could have passed, I crashed into the wall, feeling as though my jaw had come loose. Whoever the owner of the hand had been, had slapped me. "Keep your hands off her!" With a growl, Vance grabbed the warrior's leg that had struck me. The warrior gave him a sneer, then kicked him into the wall on the other side, rendering him unconscious. "Vance no!" I cried out and tried to run to him, but another warrior grabbed me. "Let me go!" I screamed as I struggled against the mass of muscle that was holding me. I knew I was no match for him, but I was not going to give up without a fight. I struggled as I was carried out of the room as easily as one carried a stuffed toy. I watched as the warrior that had slapped me walked over to where Vance lay, slinging him over his shoulder and I cursed my weakness. He had always been the one to get me out of trouble but when he needed me to help him, I couldn't do anything but throw pinches that hurt less than foam could. I watched with teary vision, as his limp body was slung over an enemy warrior's shoulder praying that some mysterious strength would fall upon me. "What a nice behind you have." The warrior that carried me said smacking my butt. I kneed him as hard as I could in the stomach, biting his shoulder. He grabbed my neck, making me look at him. "You know how easy it would be for me to snap your neck don't you?" He asked strangling me. "Go to hell." I managed to say, as I felt the last air of life evaporating. "That enough." Someone said, making the warrior release his grip from my neck, dropping me to the floor, in front of someone. I gasped looking around. I was on the battleground. The warrior who had been carrying, them dropped him to my left. From the corner of my right eye, I could see the outline of a man's body. I turned screaming my heart out. In front of me, lay my father, his eyes wide open, staring at me. Dead. "Father!" I cried out running to him. "Please," I said sobbing. "No. No." I whispered looking at his lifeless face. I let out a cry of pain and anguish, throwing myself on his lifeless body, unable to control the sobs. He hadn't been the best father, but he was still my father. "It's okay persimmon." A man said, his voice filled with arrogance. His voice was deep as distant thunder, sending shivers down my spine. "You'll forget about him in no time." He chuckled. "Go to hell," I growled looking up at who had spoken, and almost lost my breath. Odin Anderson, alpha of Obsidian pack! A ruthless and powerful man, who rules his pack with a hand of steel, commanding respect from his subject and other packs. Was this the pack that we had gone to war against? I had heard stories about this man. He was said to be quick-tempered, loud, commanding, and had no regard for people outside his pack. I could feel my heartbeat triple and I knew that there was only one thing anyone had to do when they encountered him, run! There was another feeling in my chest, one that I prayed to the moon goddess above wasn't true. It was there and hard to ignore, pulsing in my chest like it had a life of its own. She must be very sarcastic right now. There's no way this man is my mate! I don't even hear the voice of my wolf, how can I feel a mate bond?! I turned around trying to run. I had not taken three steps when one of the warriors grabbed me. "We're do you think you are running to?" Odin asked me from where he stood. He c****d his head to the side and an arrogant smirk appeared on his lips. "Just be careful." He said. "Your heart may jump out of your mouth." He could hear my heartbeat! But that wasn't the main problem. I had to run! Far far away from this ruthless man. MATE! I heard the word loud and clear in my head. MATE! MATE!! MATE!!! No! No this can't be true! He can't be my mate! Oh goddess please! "Let's move." He said to his warriors. No! I watched as Vance was lifted and slung over a warrior's shoulder and as Josephine, who I hadn't seen until now, was being dragged along, while my father's body was left behind. There was no way I was going back to Odin's pack with him! "Hey." I tapped the guard that had me slung over his shoulder, making him raise me to his face. I pushed my fingers into his eyes, asking him to drop me. Without a second thought, I ran, only to be gripped by the waist by another warrior. I kicked and fought who held me, clawing at their face, and then I saw who it was, Odin. With his blue eyes, staring deep into my soul. "Rebellious." He spat, throwing me to one of the warriors as if I weighed nothing more than a dandelion fluff. "Bind her arms and legs, make sure she never runs again." "I hate you!" I spat at Odin, the fear I once felt, evolving into anger. "I swear..." I started to say as my mouth was taped shut. I struggled in vain, trying to break free from the tight ropes that held my hands and legs. I kept struggling as I was dumped in the car together with Vance and Josephine until my hands and legs began to feel numb due to how tight the ropes were. Odin walked over to the car's backseat. He crouched down and grabbed my chin, his dead eyes bored into my eyes. He turned my head side to side and smirked. My heart completely tanked. "I'm gonna have so much fun with you, persimmon." He said. I would rather choke on hot coal! I screamed through the tape over my mouth. But he didn't hear any of that. There was the feeling again. The mate bond, full force. I've always known I was a freak, but this is just cruelty. "Move it!" Odin commanded. Before I could realize what was happening, he drew his hand as far back as it could go and whacked me across my face.
