Chapter 10 Testing My limits. “You got to fly yesterday, Its my turn. Clarry hasn’t even shifted into her Fae yet.” I woke up to Cleo and Trixy arguing in my head. (Yawn) “Clarry needs to practice a lot more in her dragon form. We need to practice things like weaving and dodging. Chasing puppies just isn’t going to cut it. Our mate is out there in a cell somewhere.” Cleo argued back. “She can practice weaving and dodging in her Fae form too. It’s exactly the same principle. And he is my mate too. He is all of our mate. You are being very selfish!’ Trixie shouted at Cleo. “Selfish, I’m only thinking about what is best for all of us. The dragon gene is the biggest and strongest gene we have. It would be best to master one at a time. Not scattering training between all of our powers. Master one at a time.” Cleo shouted back. “And then what? I must just sit in the back of her mind and wait my turn, while her Fae side grows weaker and weaker?” Trixie argued sarcastically. “You can just sleep your days away like you did yesterday you lazy Fae!” Cleo said in a bitchy tone. “Ok, Ok. That is enough now you guys. Do I really have to wake up to you two arguing, You’ve barely known each other for 2 days, and you carrying on like children. Can we please call it quits. Besides I already have my plans set out. I do need to shift into my Fae. I’m hoping you can help me with that Trixie. I understand what you mean about mastering one at a time Cleo, but truth be told, they could come after me at any point and being able to shift doll sized could help squeeze out of tight situations. It could come in really handy. In a sense, you are both right, but also wrong. We need to work as a team if we want to get Jason back sooner rather than later. We need to see each others strengths and learn how we can use all our strengths combined. That’s how we will become the best we could possibly be in the small amount of time we have.” I gave my input on their argument but also laced my words with finality so that they knew that I wouldn’t have anymore said on the matter. I got out of bed and threw on some running clothes. I was so irritated with the two of them, I didn’t even bother showering. I went downstairs and wondered around the gardens in front of the packhouse. It was too early for breakfast and the morning dew smelled amazing. I decided to take a jog around the outskirts of the small village around the pack house. I was a few round in when I noticed everything had gone deathly silent. Not even the crickets were whistling. Not a bird chirped. I stood and looked around me. I had a creepy feeling like I was being watched. I turned to head back towards the Pack house when I heard the sound of a twig breaking behind me in the bushes. As I turned around to look, a huge black wolf pounced on me and held me down covering my mouth with its paw and growling quietly. I felt like it was a warning. The only thing I could think to do, was to mind link Edward as he was the only other dragon around here, and the only person I had ever mind linked. “Edward, can you hear me?” I asked, sceptical about whether this would work??? “Yeah, It’s so early, what are you doing awake?” His reply came and relief washed over me. “Im outside being held down by a big black wolf. I need help” I was full on ugly crying by now. I was so petrified. ”Oh god there are more of them!” I added as I saw more black wolves emerging from the bushes. I didn’t get a response from Edward and began to panic. I bit into the wolves paw and kicked it in the stomach, pushing it backward and off me. I scrambled to my feet and began to run as fats as I could. I was almost at the pack house when dozens of grey wolves tore out of the doors and windows. I turned to see them crash into the black wolves that had been chasing me. More Black wolves poured out of the bushes. “Clarry, I sense vampires!” Trixie panicked. “They are really fast!” “Clarry we have to shift right now and get off the ground!” Cleo stressed. “We are outnumbered!” I closed my eyes and willed a shift as fast as I can. The forceful speedy shift was agonising with every snap of my bones and the stretching felt like my skin was tearing, but I pushed through it. Once My wings had fully emerged, I took to the sky where I found Edward. I watched in amazement as he soared over the trees and fried whatever was there with his breath of fire. “Cleo, can we do that” I asked my dragon. “Of course we can” Cleo answered and the shot a ball of fire into the air as if to prove it. “Lets go then. We can help Edward. Just keep a safe distance from the ground and trees.” I instructed my dragon. With that we swooped over the tree line an blew fire down creating a ring around the pack lands. Whatever wanted to get in, would have to get through the fire first. “We still very outnumbered.” Trixy said” Get to the graveyard, we need to call the spirits to help.” “But we haven’t learned how yet?” I argued. “Remember how I said I had lived many lives. One of them I has the Element of spirit. Il lead you through it, lets go. We can do this Clarry. Trust me.” Trixie encouraged me. I flew to the back of the pack house, and toward my training ground. There was fighting that side too. “Damnit, we cant touch down, its too dangerous. Can we do this in dragon form from up here? I asked Trixie. “You don’t have hands in dragon form. I have an Idea. I don’t know if it will work tough. Cleo, we will have to work together on this one. We need to both shift at the same time. Cleo you need to take control and keep us flying. Clarry you need to focus on shifting into both your dragon and your fae. We need all our abilities combined just like you said this morning. We are one. All of us! We can do this.” Trixie was right but I was so worried it wouldn’t work. This had literally never been done before. We were the first hybrid creature ever born to this earth and we had only known for 5 days. But, we had to try. We had no other options right now. I looked back toward the packhouse and saw grey wolve lying everywhere full of blood. I knew exactly which 1 was Lisa, because Edwards dragon was standing over her unconscious body trying to fight off the surrounding black wolves. That was enough encouragement for me. “Ok, lets do it. You ready to take control Cleo?” I asked, “As ready as I will ever be I guess, Its now or never.” Cleo replied and pushed me back. I concentrated really hard and felt myself shifting. Into what, I had no idea. I created an image in my head of a fairy with horns, dragon wings and a dragon tail. I waited it out until I felt the shift was finished. I opened m eyes and looked down at myself and felt my head. It was exactly as I had imagined. Clea had given the control back to me and retreated back into my head feeling very nervous and confused, Trixie felt relieved. “Ok Trixie, that part seems to have worked. What now” I encouraged my Fae to give some more advice. “right hold your hands out, and will the wolf spirits to rise up out of their graves. We are doing this in mass so it will take a lot of your energy. You must keep going until they have risen out completely and then keep your hand out until you have mind linked them all to fight for their pack and living families and friends.” Trixie gave strict instructions. I did as she said. The wolves were halfway out of their graves and I started to feel really tired and drained of energy, but I pushed as hard as I could and didn’t give up. Once they were out completely and I had given my instructions to them I dropped my hands and instantly felt relief on my energy. I needed to land or I would definitely fall out the sky. I headed for the packhouse and landed on the roof to take a break and see if my spirits were making a difference. They were taking out a lot of black wolves, but not fast enough, Pack members were still getting badly injured. I walked over to the other side of the pack house roof. There were no spirit wolves that side yet and they needed help. I used my Fae fire to grab flames from the trees and shot them at the black wolves one by one, being careful not to hit Grey wolves. I was making a good dent but it wasn’t enough. I used my Fae earth and which magic together, I used witch magic to grow vines from the trees and Fae Earth element to make them grab black wolves and vampires, and tie them to trees. It was a lot more difficult to catch the vampires because they were so fast, but I think my vampire abilities started allowing me to see them easier and eventually catch them in passing. Some were a lot trickier than others. I had to trip them first and then grab them. Spirit wolves started to make their way around to this side of the pack house, and helped to take out the last of the wolves on this side while I focused on the vampires. When the last black wolf wert down, I allowed myself to sit down and relax. I lay back on the roof tiles and everything went black.
