Aldin Randell
As I walked into the woods I could vividly remember the principal's words.
"If you bring the beasts requested by the professors anything extra will be paid for by the institute and stored in terms of gold until the completion of your time in the institute." He said as I was leaving for the woods
Now that I had gotten what the school had requested of me I could now hunt beasts for my experimentation. Since I now had the body training method I would use devourer touch to check out its effects.
I hunted down several beasts while in the woods, compared to my home town the beasts here were bigger and more, probably because the woods were vast around the capital. After getting enough carcasses I piled them up and sat cross-legged on the ground and used the devourer's touch on them and before my mana core could absurd it I stagnated it within my body and let it strengthen my body. This time the pain was more intense than all the other sessions that I had had but I bore the pain and maintained the technique until the pain finally subsided.
I took a minute to regain my composure. When I looked at the effects of the devourer's touch I was ecstatic. It was like nothing I had ever seen, the results were unbelievable, it made me wonder what I was now capable of and after punching a tree I could see cracks appear on it. These results were great and I was satisfied with that and did not want to experience the pain I just did again and so I decided to hunt bonus beasts.
But before that, I equipped some ice gauntlets to test out my new strength and formed an earth whip and went back into hunting. My first prey was a bear type beast with the fire attribute. When I approached it stood up ready to claw me down and with its belly open I punched it in the guts. Although it was not very strong the bear lost its balance and using that opportunity I straightened the whip and impaled the bear killing it in an instant.
With the newfound strength that I had, I dragged it up to a clearing and went on hunting. I came across a giant snake that was fire attributed. It bore its fangs at me as it approached and with one swing of my whip, I cut it in half and dragged it away as well. The beasts that followed were easy to deal with. And some time before noon I stopped since the beasts that I had were sufficient.
I was about to head back when I was confronted by a giant bear. From the looks of it, it was a magical beast and I know very well the attacks I had used on those other beasts were likely not to work on it. To create some distance I ran back to create some distance. It mistook my step back as an escape and tried chasing me with this opportunity I made the ground below it mud and it slipped and fell head first with its head down it fired a huge burst of fire at me. I had to sidestep so as not to get burned. And I was lucky I did because the part of the forest where I was had turned into ashes.
With its head still down I used the whip in my hand to strike it and instead of killing it, all it did was scar it at the side. This made it angrier and it got up on its fours and got ready to run up to me, I cast earth spikes just below it and they impaled it slightly but it was able to break them away but not without injury. To quickly escape it, I formed a light-construct platform and went up in the sky since I needed time to cast my tiny star. While I was up high in the sky it used its claws to fire giant flame slashes at me, they hit my platform breaking it apart and I began falling to the ground, but luckily the spell was ready and as I descended down with the bears maw wide open ready to swallow me whole I shot it through its head at it fell down lifeless to which I landed on it cushioning my fall.
And due to the giant disruption I had caused the guard came running to where I was and found me atop the carcass of the beast. He was shocked at what he saw to which I explained everything to him and to which he was still in disbelief. We dragged it to where the others were and using a light construct to carry them we headed back at to the academy. On the way we had to pass through the streets and all eyes were on the giant pile of carcasses we had been carrying. I could hear whispers spread through the crowd. At that point, I realised I had indeed gone overboard.
When we got back to the academy they also had the same reaction. And some of them even expressed it visibly. And finally, we had arrived at the school's storage unit my master was there waiting.
"You sure know how to overcome expectations." He said as we got off the cart which caused me to violently blushed. And then as they began counting what I had hunted down I now understood why. I had hunted 14 phoenixes, 10 lizard of the fire attributed, 16 fire wolves and 50 darkness-attributed bats. And for my personal hunt, I had 6 boars, 3 bears and 10 giant snakes.
After the counting, the whole crowd stared at me before my master finally spoke.
"The cost will be evaluated and I will tell you when it's done. You may leave." He said and so I did headed back to my dorm.
As I headed back the students would keep on whispering as I walked by but I simply ignored them since their words would do nothing to me. On my way somebody blocked my path, it was the kid, a tall blue-haired student, who had objected to my discipleship. Before I could say anything he had bowed down to me. It was shocking but he quickly clarified that.
"I wish to apologise for underestimating you last time. I now understand the reason for your discipleship." He said and I could tell he meant it
"I accept it," I said as I walked past him and continued my journey. When I got to the dorm the other were sparring and as soon as I walked to the training area they all stopped and all looked at me.
"Is there anything wrong," I asked them but they were all silent until Darvin finally spoke up on their behalf.
"After you gave me advice the other day they all wanted to know how I was able to learn it quickly. I refused to tell them but they finally learnt about it and now they want to ask for your help but they are just too scared to do that." He said.
I was a bit struck by what they had said.
"I can help you, but the day any of you dare bite me back I will ensure it is the last thing you do," I said making sure all of them heard what I had just said.
Terias was of the air attribute, Barrin was earth attributed, Mark was light attributed, Olivia was water attributed and Natalie was water attributed.
Terias and Marcus were the only people I had no way of helping but the rest were doable. They sat round the ring other as I was going to start with Barrin.
Barrin was in the second tier. According to what I knew he could now use aura but since I had no idea how it worked there was no way I would be able to help him. I taught him how to use earth whip. It was hard at first for him but he was able to do it in the long run but he was too exhausted to continue. Next up was Mark, he was at the beginning of the second tier. He had been able to form a light construct at the end of the session. Olivia and Natalie were only able to learn rubber since they experienced exhaustion very fast and had to stop.
"I want you to know I have taught you this but this will be the last of it. From now henceforth you have to rely on your own power." I said to them.
"This much is enough. You have put us in a better spot than we were." Mark said on behalf of the others and they each nodded to his words.
"And you have to all accumulate mana more to build up your cores if you want to grow stronger," I told them.
"They're not like us Aldin they can go for only a maximum of two hours," Darvin said with a smug expression.
