The University

...continuation... Cellestine always managed to get her way with her parents. Thus, the reason why she woke up with a smile. Henriette had always been tolerant and indulgent of her only daughter. If not for the correct values that they managed to instill in Cellestine while growing up, she might as well be a lawless, spoiled, rich second generation. The love, care, and attention that she received growing up helped her become who she is today and she is very grateful to her parents for that. Her only regret is not being able to stay with them longer and be the one to take care of them in return. She wanted them to see what she could become in the future and be proud that she was their daughter. She opened her eyes and stared at the starry sky. “Mom? Dad? Are you somewhere up there? Can you still see me? Don't worry about me. I'll take care of myself. I swear. I'll give you justice. I swear I'll make you proud,” she whispered. She leaned over the railing and watched as several students in groups of twos and threes were still going about in the school grounds. Seeing a group of a boy and two girls made her think back to the tale of Celia, Solenn, and Lucas. She was so naive back then. Thinking that everyone deserves and will definitely have a happy ending. The love story between Solenn and Lucas was doomed even before it started. The friendship between Solenn and Celia ended the moment Lucas and Celia's love story began. The love story of Lucas and Celia will never be the same the moment they realized they were hurting Solenn. So, amidst all the sugar-coated happy ending that little Cellestine made for the three of them, it was a tragic story through and through. This makes her wonder why her mother even made it a bedtime story. It was not a children's story at all. But to her, it still made sense. Cellestine thinks that her mother wants her to be able to think that good things can still be there even in the worst-case scenarios. She thinks her mother wants her to develop and understand this sentiment starting at a young age. She smiled at this thought. Just when she decided to go back to the bedroom, she accidentally glanced at the forested area to the right of the building. Did she just imagine things? Because she swore, she saw silhouettes of two people running after each other. The thing is, they were way faster than the best Olympic runner she knew. Almost as if running at the speed of light. She must really be sleepy, so she shrugged off what she thought she had seen. She thought she needed more sleep. Glancing at her phone, she realized that she had been trapped in her musings for almost an hour. After taking one last glance, she went back into the room and closed the balcony door. Tomorrow is gonna be another long day. --- If there is one thing that Cellestine has always been faithful to doing every morning, that is to do her morning runs and exercise. It has been a routine since she was a young girl. At first, she ran with her father and later on, she went on her run by herself. It's five in the morning and there are also a few early risers already running about in the school grounds. After finishing a set of stretching exercises, she started walking towards the direction of the sports quadrangle. Most of the students are also headed in this direction. She found a spot in the track and field area and started to do a warm-up jog, then picked up her speed. Around her second lap, someone suddenly decided to run beside her. At first she didn't take notice. But when she speeded up, the person, who is actually a guy, actually speeded up with her. Cellestine raised her eyebrows. She doubled her speed in an attempt to throw off the guy, but to her surprise, he still kept their speed equal. This piqued her interest. Most people will not be able to keep up with her current speed. "Hey! Three laps to the finish line. The first one wins." Cellestine suddenly shouted and then started to pick up her speed again. This time, no longer a fast jog but full speed running. The guy didn't mind her tricks. He smirked and also turned on full speed running. People around them couldn't help but turn their attention towards this pair, who started to outrun each other on the field for no reason. Who wouldn't, though? After a glance, people couldn't help but be entranced. Such a pair of a beautiful man and woman is certainly pleasing to the eyes. Cellestine can't really explain it. She's not really the most friendly person in the world and she doesn't trust people easily. But she inexplicably felt that the guy was a good person and she had the impulse to be a bit playful. Hence, this scenario. The guy managed to catch up with her, which made her speed up even more and inevitably reached her maximum speed so far. The only other person who made her run this fast was one of her friends, who was an athlete who competed in running professionally. Just when she thought she would win this match, the guy caught up with her at the finish line and they ended in a draw. They slowed down into a jog before stopping. Both of them were still panting, bent forward with hands on their knees. The guy recovered first and said to her, "You're a pretty fast runner." Cellestine, who was also recovering her breath at this moment, looked up at the person in front of her. She was stunned. He is a tall fellow. She's pretty tall herself at five-foot-seven inches. But this guy is taller. Probably around six-foot-two inches. The most prominent, however, was his handsome facial features. That type of person who you can just stare at the whole day and not get tired. Cellestine noticed her own gaffe and quickly responded, "You're a fast runner as well. Are you an athlete?" He smiled, displaying his dimples, which further enhanced his already handsome profile. “No. I am not an athlete. I just like running as a hobby.” Then he extended his hands and said, “My name is Luke Pereira. And you’re miss…?” It took a while before she responded. She was actually attracted by this beautiful manly smile. She blushed at her embarrassing behaviour. “I'm Cellestine Haynes." She reached out to grab his hand. The movement when they touched hands, she swore she felt as if there were tingles where their skins met and her heart skipped a beat. “Nice to meet you.” she said and quickly withdrew her hand. To escape from this embarrassing situation, she made up an excuse and quickly ran away trying to hide her blush. She did not notice the smile on Luke's face getting wider as he stared at her fleeing back. --- There are only a few people in the cafeteria. Then again, students are expected to flood-in later in the afternoon, so it's no surprise that fewer students are around this morning. The school cafeteria is huge. It covers the entire first and second floors of the recreation building. Considering the size of the school, it's no wonder they need to have a huge cafeteria. There are several counters, so students won't have to wait in line for a long period of time. Also, the cafeteria serves food from four in the morning till midnight. This is to accommodate early risers and those that have late-night classes, taking into consideration that their school is also a boarding school. She spotted her uncle on one of the couches on the second floor. He is seated next to the glass window and it looks like he is reading a newspaper. Cellestine quickly made her way to him. "Sorry you waited so long." Harvey dismissed her apology. "You don't have to apologize. They're still preparing our meal. English breakfast, right?" Cellestine nodded in response. "You really know what I like, Uncle Harvey. I don't know what to do if you're not around." "Silly. Have a little confidence in yourself. I saw how you grew up. I know that whether or not I'm here with you, you will know what to do. You're a born leader," Harvey seriously told his niece. "Fine, fine. No need to be so serious about it. I'm just saying that I am really grateful to have you around. Geez," Cellestine said, to ease the atmosphere. Her uncle responded with a laugh. "Our breakfast is here," Harvey said. After finishing their meal, they rested for a few minutes and then decided to take a stroll around the campus. She wasn't really able to tour the school those other times she and her parents came. There are thirteen prominent buildings in the school. The first one you will see upon entering the school is the administration building, where all the offices of the faculty and staff are located. The registrar, finance, and all other important administration related offices are here as well. The next one is the recreation building. Cellestine's favorite part of the campus. It's five stories high. The first and second floors are dedicated to the school cafeteria. The third floor is like a mini-mall. It has a few boutiques where students can purchase items ranging from cute stuff to formal RTW that they can use for different school activities and functions without them having to go out of the school premises. This was to take note of the fact that Haynes University is quite far and it will take 45 minutes to an hour to travel by car before you reach the nearest city, Valen City. The fourth floor houses a fitness gym and areas for table tennis, boxing, martial arts and even chess. The fifth floor has an indoor pool and shower areas. Then, there are separate buildings for Junior and Senior high school, as well as five separate buildings for the five main colleges, namely; College of Business, College of Arts (Performing and Fine), College of Music, College of Engineering, and College of Technology. Cellestine is in her final year of Senior High, so she'll be spending most of her time in that building. There are also separate dorms for female students and male students, as well as for female faculty and male faculty. Harvey stayed in the male faculty dorm last night. He also has his own quarters there. He said to his niece that she has her own place in the female faculty dorm as well, but if she wants, she can also stay in the female dorm. There are also several smaller buildings, like the library, school theater, school gym, and clinic. "Your dad personally designed all the buildings here in the school, as well as the layout of the whole campus when he was still in Junior high. There was an accident before at the old school campus area so we needed to transfer here." She never knew that her dad was really that involved in this school. They are currently sitting on one of the benches in the school garden. It is located at the corner of the school and is near the woods. In fact, there is a trail here that you can follow if you want to reach the lake that is located within the forest. She looked around. In front of her, she could see almost all the buildings. It made her proud to know that her dad designed this. "I will take care of this place, uncle." She smiled.
