Jeremiah has known Carlos since he was a child, so he knows Leyla well. He had expected Leyla to cry and yell and throw a tantrum. But to his surprise, Leyla became very calm and silent when she learned of the miscarriage.
Leyla did not speak. She lay quietly on the bed and cooperated with the doctor. She didn't grieve over the lost child and she acted as if she hadn't been pregnant before.
