"Wait, Terra for Goddess sake. You are my mate." He ranked a hand in his disheveled hair.
"You have got to be kidding me." I scoffed.
"Mate?" I scoffed.
My laughter died instantly, wordssharp as shattered glass. Nathan flinched, pain flashing across his features.
Part of me softenedseeing that vulnerability.The rest hardened into stone.
"Terra, please--" he began.
I held up one hand, barely containing fury roiling beneath my calm exterior. "Don't. You lost the right to make claims over me long ago."
