In Love With the Devil — Part 7
Deep beneath the underworld, something awakened.
The whisper echoed through darkness older than time itself.
“Han Lucifer…”
The entire realm of hell trembled violently.
Mountains cracked apart beneath oceans of black fire. Ancient demons fled in terror across ruined kingdoms buried beneath the earth. Even the King of the Underworld froze as though every nightmare he had ever feared had suddenly become real.
“No…” he breathed.
High above Shanghai, the silver flames surrounding Han and Lin Yue slowly faded into the night sky. The city had become silent again. Fires vanished. Broken streets repaired themselves beneath the power of the Flame of Eternity.
Humans below stared upward in shock, unable to understand what they had just witnessed.
A miracle.
Han remained motionless beside Lin Yue, still holding her hand tightly.
Warmth.
After centuries of darkness, warmth finally returned to him.
Lin Yue smiled weakly.
“We stopped it…”
But Han’s expression suddenly changed.
The shadows beneath the rooftop were moving again.
Not like demons.
Something worse.
The Eternal Judge looked downward slowly.
And for the first time since its arrival—
Fear appeared in its countless glowing eyes.
“It has awakened completely.”
The air became heavy instantly.
Then the ground exploded.
A massive crack tore through Shanghai itself, stretching across streets and rivers like a wound splitting open beneath the city. Black flames erupted into the heavens while millions screamed below.
From the darkness beneath the earth…
A giant hand emerged.
But unlike the King of the Underworld, this creature did not feel demonic.
It felt empty.
Ancient.
Like death before creation itself.
The King immediately dropped to one knee.
“Forgive me, Creator.”
Lin Yue’s heart tightened.
Creator?
Han’s eyes darkened instantly.
“No…”
Slowly, a colossal figure rose from the abyss beneath the city.
Its body was covered in shattered chains larger than skyscrapers. Endless darkness flowed from its skin like smoke swallowing stars. Its face remained hidden beneath a cracked mask, but two silver eyes burned through the void itself.
The Eternal Judge spoke carefully.
“The Void Emperor.”
Even heaven had fallen silent.
Lin Yue whispered shakily, “Who is that?”
Han stepped protectively in front of her.
“The first ruler.”
Ancient memories surfaced inside Lin Yue immediately.
Before heaven.
Before hell.
Before balance.
There had only been the Void.
And from that endless darkness, creation itself was born.
But the Void Emperor desired absolute silence.
No life.
No emotion.
No light.
The first guardians sealed him away using the combined powers of darkness and creation together.
The Soul Flame.
Lin Yue’s face turned pale.
“That’s why the Flame exists…”
Han nodded grimly.
“It was never meant to balance heaven and hell.”
His eyes lifted toward the rising creature.
“It was meant to imprison him.”
The Void Emperor’s gaze slowly locked onto Han and Lin Yue.
And the silver flames between them reacted violently.
The Emperor spoke at last.
Its voice sounded like countless souls crying together.
“The Flame… has returned.”
The city lights exploded.
Darkness swallowed half the sky instantly.
The Eternal Judge raised its glowing hands.
“All realms, prepare for war.”
Thousands of golden portals opened across the heavens as heavenly armies emerged carrying enormous spears of light. The remaining demons gathered beneath the King of the Underworld, trembling but ready to fight.
For the first time in existence—
Heaven and hell stood on the same side.
Against the Void.
The Emperor laughed softly.
A sound so terrible that blood poured from the hunters’ ears instantly.
“You still cling to hope.”
Its enormous hand stretched toward Shanghai.
“I will return all things to silence.”
The attack never reached the city.
Han appeared in front of it instantly.
Dark wings exploded across the heavens as he blocked the Void Emperor’s power with his bare hands.
The collision shattered nearby buildings.
Black blood dripped from Han’s arms.
“Han!” Lin Yue screamed.
But he didn’t move.
Didn’t retreat.
Even while the Void itself tried crushing him.
The Emperor looked almost curious.
“You defy me?”
Han’s eyes burned gold against the darkness.
“I’ve spent centuries suffering in hell.”
His wings spread wider.
“You think I fear you?”
The Emperor’s silver gaze narrowed.
Then it attacked seriously.
Darkness erupted across the heavens like a collapsing universe. Heavenly soldiers vanished instantly upon contact. Demons disintegrated into ash. Even the King of the Underworld was thrown backward violently.
Only Han remained standing.
But barely.
The Void was consuming him.
Lin Yue realized something horrifying.
The Flame of Eternity had restored balance temporarily…
But it was incomplete.
Because the Soul Flame required two fully awakened guardians.
And Han was dying.
She ran toward him desperately while chaos exploded around them.
“Han!”
He turned toward her weakly.
The darkness spreading across his body was unstable again. Cracks of silver light appeared beneath his skin as though his soul itself was breaking apart.
Lin Yue grabbed his face tightly.
“Listen to me.”
Han smiled faintly despite the pain.
“You always sound brave when you’re terrified.”
Tears filled her eyes.
“Because I learned it from you.”
The Void Emperor began moving toward them again.
Each step shattered pieces of reality itself.
The Eternal Judge shouted across the battlefield.
“The Flame must seal the Void now!”
Lin Yue looked upward.
“And if we fail?”
Silence answered her.
She already knew.
Everything would disappear.
Han gently touched her trembling hand.
“There’s still one way.”
Lin Yue immediately shook her head.
“No.”
Because she understood him instantly.
Han looked toward the enormous Void Emperor calmly.
“If the Flame combines completely with my darkness, it can recreate the prison seal.”
“But you’ll die!” she cried.
Han’s golden eyes softened.
“I died a long time ago, Yue’er.”
“No!”
Silver flames burst around her violently.
“I won’t lose you again!”
The pain in her voice shattered something inside him.
For centuries, he endured loneliness believing love only brought suffering.
But now someone was finally choosing him despite the darkness.
Despite everything.
Han pulled her gently into his arms.
And for a brief moment, the war disappeared around them.
“If there’s another life after this,” he whispered against her hair, “find me again.”
Lin Yue held him tighter desperately.
But above them—
The Void Emperor opened its cracked mask.
And inside it…
There was nothing.
Only endless emptiness capable of swallowing existence itself.
Then the creature spoke one final sentence before attacking.
“Love is the first thing that dies in darkness.”
