Nathan’s POV
“Don’t let them get into you...” Gene said without looking at me. We are currently walking on the hallway and I can’t help but think about what had happened last week because their stares means too much.
It’s been a week after the contest and here I am... Still confused and getting curious as to why they have this fear-stricken emotion plastered all over their face and then murmur as soon as I pass by them. I can’t even remember any physical touch for the last few days because people are too obviously afraid of me.
“What the hell did I do?” I murmured and ignore all their stares as we got closer to or room. Once inside, the students who are talking non-stop abruptly stop as they look at our direction.
‘Here comes their unwanted stares and opinions,’ I said at the back of my head and maintain a straight face as I walk to my seat next to the window.
“You can be back to what you are doing earlier. Just imagine I’m not here.” I loudly said but that made them quieter until Sir Ichigo enters the room.
“Good morning, everyone! Hey... What’s with the long face?” He suddenly asked. His gaze slowly shifted into my direction and stare directly at my eyes. There is something inside of it that I can’t still figure out.
“Nathaniel Rosario...” I snapped back to reality when he called me by my name. I immediately stood up and roam my eyes around everyone who is frozen in spot. Some are even trembling a bit as if I was gonna do something to them.
“I’d like to talk to you after class...” I nodded and is about to seat down when he continued talking.
“Also... congrats for winning the mini tournament. Bring your co-members with you so we could discuss the prize I had promised you.” I nodded once more and look at my group mates. They nodded at me as I sit.
‘You deserve it, Nathan... Your team deserves to win so don’t feel bad on what is happening right now.’ I shifted my glance in the front and saw Sir Ichigo smiled a little before discussing the topic for today.
‘Thank you...’

“Let’s go?” I asked my squad as soon as Sir Ichigo left the room. Gene is playing with his chair while staring blankly at space. Maria is still helping Carina to stand up as she just went out of the infirmary a few days ago but she still insist to go to class even with bandage and gauze in her body. This past few days, I always saw Maria looking at me coldly and then when her twin went by, now they both do the same. Remus nodded at me while Mica stares at me curiously.
I closed my bag while standing and walking and was about to head out the door when I bump into someone. I stood firm as she loses balance followed by her scream.
“What the hel—You again? Get away from me!” She scoffed and took a step back as her friends help her up.
“Shut the f**k up, Lexi. Can’t you get over the fact that we won to the point that you bump yourself into him and then cause a scene?” Mica fired back and took a step forward. Lexi clenched his fist and pushed her but Mica resisted and pushed her back harder, making her stumble on the ground once more.
“Hey, cut it out...” Derek tried stopping his co-member but it just made Lexi more aggressive and immediately shifted into her big dog form. She leaps and charged at Mica’s direction when I removed my gloves and touched her. She falls weakly as soon as Gene caught her in his arms. He gently gave her back to Derek who nods apologetically at us.
“Why the hell did you do that again? Are you not happy that you won already? Do you want to decapitate us all like what you did to Ulysses?” Ameera shrieks as soon as she saw what happened. A loud slap makes everyone quiet as the girl in front of me is breathing heavily.
“I can control my ability. I just stopped her from attacking my friend,” I said in a monotonous voice and walk pass through them. I am already at the door when she said something that made me froze.
“You can control your ability? Ha! Say that in front of Ulysses while stabbing him to death to see if you really manage to control your stupid curse.”

“Welcome, Paranormal Detectives. Have a seat,” Sir Ichigo offered as soon as we enter his personal room. This is like a classroom with a few chairs to seat on, ideal for private meetings like this.
“Thank you, Sir...” Mica muttered and sits on the side. The other took their spot and I am now left with the only chair available, to the front near Sir Ichigo who is waiting for us to be ready.
“Nice. I don’t want to prolong this any longer since it’s been a week that you won and I haven’t announced your prize yet,” he said and looks at our eyes one by one. After scanning everyone, he shifted his glance back at me and stares directly into my eye.
“I’ll be sending you to missions. Legal missions this early that would be an additional and good experience for you when you apply after graduating.”
Mica shouted in joy and hugged Gene who was beside her. The wins happily looks at each other while Remus smiled widely and even almost make everything in this room float due to excitement.
“Of course, I would also enroll you to special training classes to enhance your skills and abilities. I’m sure you still have something inside of you aside from what you show last tournament,” Sir Ichigo continued before he is surrounded by my squad mates, asking non-stop questions and sending gratitude.
In Caelum Academy for Psychic and Magical abilities, being sent to a mission even when you were just in your freshmen years is a big opportunity for it will help us grow and evolve much faster than our classmates. It’s such an honor to be part of this but...
‘Do I really deserve this?’
I roam my eyes on my squad who was laughing to their hearts content as their eyes are beaming with joy and excitement. Their smiles are too wide and I don’t know if I have the heart to take it away from them.
I saw how they did their best in order to win and surpass every obstacle from the tournament. I saw their perseverance all throughout and I’m sure they all deserve this kind of prize...
“We deserve this...” Maria held my hand and looks intently at me. There is something in her eyes but her words earlier calms the storm that is building inside of me. I smiled back at her and enveloped all of them in a big, tight hug.
“We deserve this.”

“Sir Ichigo...” I called him before he leave the room. I nodded at my squad and they all left the room with reassuring look on their faces. I took a couple of deep breath as Sir Ichigo went back to his spot and sit comfortably while waiting for me to speak up.
“I—“
“I know that the fight bothers you so much. Tell me... Why are you that affected? It is on our rule to use your full strength... It may be my bad since I knew you were just freshmen but hey...At least you show everyone your potential, right?” He said reassuringly. I slowly shook my head that made the smile on his face fade away and his expression turned into a serious one.
“Tell me what’s bothering you...” He urged me in a serious tone that made me closed my eyes tight and opened them slowly followed by a deep breath until I finally have the courage to speak my heart out.
“I have no control of myself when that happened... I feel like...” I raised my head and looked directly into his eyes while admitting the very thing that bugs me all the time and is causing chaos in my system.
“I feel like I’ve been possessed and that made me lose my s**t and almost kill him if I hadn’t snap back in reality when the lightning strikes me.”
