Chapter 58

Remus’ POV “Catch me if you can!” Ros shouted as he disappears from my sight AGAIN.   “Come on dude! Just concentrate and pull me up to the air!” He shouted once more. I tried redirecting my ability on his location but when I did, he’s already gone.   I sat at the bench near me and take the water out from my backpack. The sun is blazing hot and I’m getting dehydrated with all this running around. I opened the lid and was about to drink it when a whooshing wind pass by me and steals the bottle from my hand. The next thing I knew, I’m holding the same bottle but has no more water left in there.   I shifted my attention to Ros who is now burping while wiping his mouth with the evidence of it. He grinned at me and ran away when I threw the bottle at his direction in irritation.   “Concentrate, Remus. All you need is to concentrate...” He said and continued running in random directions.   I removed the dirt and leaves that fall on my shirt and stand. I cleared my mind and took a deep breath and tried concentrating once more. I calmed myself and focused my senses on the only thing that is moving non-stop on the field. I could feel his speed and power while encircling over me.   “Gotcha!” I shouted and opened my eyes only to see him floating from the ground like I’m tasked to. He clapped his hands but it suddenly fades when he realized he’s getting higher and higher.   “Put me down!” He shouted. I shook my head and laughed at him while he’s getting near the tallest tree and bump on its branch. He was about to get hit again when a stronger wind force resisted my levitation and bring him down to the ground unscathed. The wind starts blowing real hard to the point that I almost lost my balance during the process.   “Using your ability to harm other people, especially your trainer. Do you think it’s the right thing to do, Remus Sly?” I felt frozen in the spot when I heard her voice. I shifted my gaze towards the person who was controlling the air around me while Gene followed her from behind. He has this mocking grin on his face while staring at me. I formed my fist into ball and stared at him intently, only to stop when the well-known Sheritan is now blocking my way.   Roscoe headed to our direction and hit me a little bit hard on the head. I scratched the part where it hurts while looking into him.   “You’re naughty...” He said in a serious tone while shaking his head and shrugging his shoulder and then turn back to Sheritan who is still intently looking at me.   “Are you done with him?” Ros asked and pointed at Gene who is flexing his biceps and then showed us his palm with glowing orange fire in it.   “Yeah, and it looks like he got you too. Mind switching trainees now?” She answered without looking at him. I felt a slump down my throat while trying to avoid her gaze at me.   “Yes sure. Come on, Gene,” he called him and just like that, they’re gone. Leaving me with this person who has two persona and based on what she is acting right now, she is on her darker side...   “Itan...”   “Master Itan,” she corrected and moves her hand in the air. The leaves follow her every motion as they landed directly at me.   “Let me show you how trainers should be treated, Remus. Are you ready?”   Hell no, I’m not and I’m definitely dead right now.   Help me. Maria’s POV   The voices won’t stop no matter how hard I tried pressing my ears together. As soon as we landed on the side a bit far from the academy, I started hearing more and more from them and their voices are too much for me to handle.   I slump down the ground and hugged my knees tight as I closed my eyes shut and silently praying for everything to stop. It’s been hours and I still don’t understand why Klio hasn’t come back yet. She said that we will train but she will just hand over Mica to the other side of the land where the healing ground is located.   “I knew you can hear us...”   “Help us.”   “Save us.”   “I just want to get revenge.”   “They killed me!”   “I just wanna talk to my son for the last time...”   “Stop it!” I shouted but the voices just won’t stop talking to me.   I tried looking everywhere for Klio but I can’t even see her shadow or sense her at all. The healing ground is just a few meters from where I am and she is taking incredibly longer than I thought she would be.   The spirits around me keeps talking and shouting and my hands pressing on my ears is not helping at all. They go more aggressive that I could actually feel the blood oozing out of my ears. I panicked and hurriedly run to the healing ground where they say that it is safe and away from these paranormal beings. I was only a few steps away when I heard a voice that made my body tremble in fear.   “He killed me and I will kill you if you don’t help me right now.”     That very familiar voice... But how?   How the hell is this even possible when...   The voice I’m hearing is the same voice I adore all the time?   “Who are you?”   Mica’s POV   “This place is real heaven. Thank you so much, Ms. Klio,” I smiled and waved at her as soon as I saw her still sitting on the bench where I left her. We are currently on the healing ground and it’s been hours since we’ve been here. I am training with this special people outside the academy whose expertise is on healing and protecting the land from unwanted creatures that keeps lurking around the academy.   “You’re always welcome. I’ve been hearing some things about you when you were still in your high school years but now that you stepped into college, more rumors are spread about you...” She said in a calm manner. She paused a bit and stifle a laugh when she saw my confused reaction.   “Rumors, the good one I’m saying. You know... You’re always at the top of your game and then now, you had the chance to be handled by Antonov, defeated Sheritan in your fight and now, your team has won the tournament Sir Ichigo held a few weeks back. You’re squad is getting loud, don’t you think?” She continuously said. I nodded my head in agreement and sat beside her.   “Thank you for the compliments... Monster Hunters are our main inspiration for all of these,” I silently muttered while staring into the people who are casting spells in unison while fire is burning in the center. They were performing ritual on strengthening the barriers and preventing more evil spirits from entering the perimeter.   The news about what the unusual happenings in the academy triggered these people to set up a larger healing ground and performs daily rituals. I learned a lot today and my time has ended since they were not stepping up into a greater level in which I clearly haven’t reached yet. I watched them thoroughly and gets really fascinated by their works.   ‘I wish I could be one with them soon...’ I muttered at the back of my mind and looked back at Klio who was silent for a couple of minutes now. I saw how her expression twitched and turned into a shocked one. She immediately stand up and closed her eyes while sensing everything.   “Maria!” She shouted. The people stopped what they were doing until a man motioned them to continue while he walks towards our direction. The look on his face is not good since we interrupted their ritual session. He shook his head in disbelief but stopped when he heard what Klio said.   “I left Maria in the woods for her to enhance her skills and become stronger in handling the voices from paranormal creatures in her head but now...”   “You left her?” He asked in a serious voice. Klio nodded and I can see how her hair on the arms raised because of his tone.   “The spirits are coming at their strongest peak this coming eclipse and so we are also strengthening the barriers...” He took a deep breath and looks at us directly in the eyes and said in the most serious voice the words that made us running back into the woods where Klio left Maria.   “Go on and save her before it's too late.”
