Chapter 38: Bloody Maria

Carina’s POV
“So, let me first introduce myself... I am Micaelle but you can simply call me Mica. I have this psychic ability wherein I could heal wounds and stop bleeding at a fair rate. I’m still working on it to be able to heal without using too much of my mana but hey, we’ll get there eventually.”
I stared at her throughout the duration she was introducing herself. Her confidence is overflowing and I somehow envy how she explained her ability as if it’s the most rewarding of all. Which in fact, it really is.
Gene drank from the bottle and starts to speak for himself.
“I’m Gene and my ability is to wield fire. Does anyone want some hot barbeque tonight?” He asked and then laughs after. Nathan shook his head and took a sip of the drink he ordered and smiled at us.
“I’m Nathaniel Rosario, you can call me Nathan. I have two abilities, both rare but I seldom use it for safety purposes. Slightly controlling time and draining energy from anyone who touched me. Doesn’t seem cool, right?” He shook his head uncontrollably and drank another shot directly from the bottle.
“Stop drinking Nathan and Gene. I hope you still remember what you had done back in Los Paradise,” Antonov reminded and took a deep breath.
“I’m Antonov, has the power to manipulate the mind and replicate anything you handed to me. I’m also the guardian of these students who will also be your team mate. I was assigned to look after this group so here I am...”
Remus eyed each of us in awe until his gaze turned to mine.
“Who are you?” He asked. I cover my mouth as a yawn escape my mouth.
“Looks like someone doesn’t get enough sleep at all,” Gene taunted and then laughs again. I rolled my eyes on him and shifted my gaze back to Remus who was waiting for my answer.
I offered him my hand and waits for a handshake which he gladly gives.
“I’m Carina and I have psychometric ability. Which means...” I took a deep breath and rubbed my eyes as I felt sleepiness taking over. “I can see the future from my dream.” I whispered and drank the last shot of wine before getting up and turning my back on them.
“I’m Remus and as you all know, I can levitate things but that’s not all because I could also hear and talk to animals and –“
I don’t know what he says next because I went straight to my room and threw my body into the soft mattress and eventually drifts to sleep.

“You are my sunshine, my only sunshine... You make me happy when skies are grey.” We happily sing while holding hands together. The sun is shining brightly and it is a nice weather to play on the swing with my twin sister.
“Do I really make you happy, Carina?” She asked and held my hand tighter. I smiled at her and held her hand tighter too while looking directly into her eyes.
“Of course, Maria. You always make me happy and I hope I make you happy too so that we will be happy together!” I exclaimed and happily sing.
“You’ll never know dear, how much I love you...” We stopped from swinging and look directly at everyone’s eye while singing the last part of the song.
“Please don’t take my sunshine away...” The moment we sing this part and suddenly the thunder strikes and starts to rain. I shouted and tried pulling Maria inside the house to take shelter from the rain but she didn’t bulge and continue swinging by herself.
“Maria, let’s go... We’ll get sick if we stay here,” I exclaimed and put my arms on the side. She didn’t even look at me and continue singing under the rain.
“I’ll always love you and make you happy. If you will only say the same...” She stopped from swinging and held my hand tighter.
“Do you promise to love and make me happy, Carina?” Her voice starts to change from a jolly one to a sad depressing tone and I could feel the shiver all over my body as she ask those questions without looking at me.
“O-Of course, I love you and w-will make you happy. Just like in the song... Can you please l-let go now?” I pleaded as her nails starts digging into my skin. She didn’t say anything and continue singing the last part of the song.
“But if you leave me to love another... You’ll regret it all someday.” Her voice changed into a dull one and I shriek in horror as she slowly turned to face me, only to see her eyes bleeding.
“You lied... You let them take me away... You loved another and you’re going to regret it now.”
I tried hard to resist her strength and tried pulling my hands. Blood starts oozing from her nose and mouth while she laughs demonically.
“You’re late, Carina... You’re always late and now, her body will be mine... forever!”
“N-No!” I shouted at the top of my lungs as I immediately curled upward. My heart is beating too fast that I had to hold my chest to keep it in place. Seconds later, I can hear footsteps coming toward my direction and before I knew it, the door sprung open and revealed the five of them whose eyes wander around, checking if someone has broken out the house we are renting because of my shout.
Mica went next to me and handed me a glass full of water. I immediately grab it and drank till it’s gone. Gene opened up the air conditioner while Nathan stood by the open window wherein the wind blew the curtains.
“I thought we’ve been robbed hays. Let’s listen to a calming music, shall we?” Antonov asked and opened his Spotify. He chose the song in random and I almost tremble in fear when I hear the familiar song playing right now. The song that gave me goose bumps all over as my dream starts replaying over and over again in my head.

My heart is pounding fast and my mouth gapes wide, unable to say a word to stop him from playing the song that sent shivers down to my spine.

Images of her starts flashing through my mind and co-exist with my dream. I stumble on the floor as I held my head tight, trying to stop thoughts and figures of her from entering my mind.

Blood...
Maria...
My eyes widen in horror as I saw what was about to happen to her, right at this very moment. Tears started to fall from my eyes as I saw every scenario flashing to my head in broad day-light.
I feel my mouth dried up and my lungs losing oxygen when a cold hand touches my face. I can’t stop from shaking as I saw her right in front of me, drenching in blood that flows all over her body.
“S-Save me...” She continuously whispers to my ear as she continued singing our favorite song.
“S-Stop please...
B-Bloody Maria...”
