WE ALL GATHERED under the trees at the shoreline, where the vegetation was not too dense but where we were out of direct sight of anyone entering the bay.
“Let’s have a briefing,” Sheydu said. “Reida, show everyone what we have so far.”
Reida shared a map with us through the feeder network that operated through the transmitter on Deyu’s back.
It detailed the beach and the area immediately surrounding the settlement, up to the ridge behind it. It was a type of infrared display that rendered the settlement in big light-coloured blobs, which represented the people inside. Most of them were on the ground floor, as we already knew.
