The darkness was suffocating, like a living entity wrapping around them. Ava's breath caught, her heart racing. The figure took a step closer, his eyes glowing in the dark. "Lia, it's me," he whispered, his voice sending shivers down her spine.
Ava's mind spun, her fingers reaching out to touch his face. His skin was warm, familiar. "Who...who are you?" she stammered.
The whispers grew louder, a menacing presence closing in. The figure's eyes flashed, and a warm light spilled from his pendant, illuminating the church. Ava gasped, her eyes locking onto his face.
He was beautiful, like a fallen angel. Eyes that saw right through her soul. "I'm Kaden," he whispered, his voice barely audible over the whispers.
Ava's pendant pulsed, responding to Kaden's. The whispers turned to screams, the air thick with malevolent energy. Kaden's grip on her hand tightened. "We need to get out of here. Now."
The church doors burst open, revealing a vortex of darkness. Kaden yanked Ava close, shielding her. "Hold on," he whispered, as they were sucked into the void.
Silence. Darkness. Weightlessness.
Ava's eyes snapped open, her lungs gasping for air. She was lying on a soft surface, Kaden's face hovering above hers. "Welcome to my world," he whispered, his breath whispering against her skin.
Ava's mind reeled. What world? What was happening?
Kaden's eyes cr crled at the corners, a hint of a smile. "We'll figure it out. Together."
