As I gently headed for the door, the knot in my stomach came back as a painful sensation. My body came to a sudden realization that I was sacred. I absolutely had no idea what would happen next neither do I know at that point the plans they had for me. It was then I realized I had failed to come with a weapon, something I would defend myself with if things went south. Wait! What if I had them? Would I have been able to pass through those four heavily armed men outside the Queen’s room? My brain began to visualize everything that might likely go wrong, preventing me from concentrating on what I wanted to do. I tried to shift my mental gears into something that might distract me or get my mind focused on something else. I ended up remembering nothing. When I finally got out from the room, I sighed. I felt a little bit relieved. Nobody was close, not even the guards. At least, for a moment, I was out from a lion's den, I thought. I took a deep breath and stood there for a while. Just when I was planning to leave, I heard something. Or I thought I overheard someone, a familiar voice. “Mother! We sure need to kill this bastard. The sight of him irks me. Hush!” the Princess said out loudly and angrily. She spoke like she wanted me dead that instant. Though I was sure they thought I had gone but at least if I were her, I wouldn't be so loud. I was interested in the topic so I leaned closer— quietly, to the door. Because if they had known they. . . “C’mon Diane. Killing Anon now might not necessarily be the best idea. For me, it's bad timing to try it. Besides, anything we need to do, we need to be very careful about it,” Prince Nightwinder replied her. It appeared they didn’t know I was still lurking around in the door. “Oh! Spare me that gibberish. You didn’t tell me you were afraid of him, Night,” The princess rebutted. “What?” I could sense the frustration on Nightwinder's voice. “Yes. You are afraid of him. Why can’t we just kill him? Just tell me? Why? Uh? Why Night? If you can not do your job as a Crown Prince then, ask me to do it. I will gladly do it for you.” Diane's voice sounded cold. I knew she hated me but I never knew she hated me this much. “Silence!” The Queen shouted. “Talk to your senior brother like that again, then you will have me to deal with. Are you stupid or what? Even if you are stupid, are you blind? Can’t you see that Anon had grown so much in wisdom? He is no longer the Anon you used to know. I couldn’t even read him when I tried to. Do you think you can just wake up one day and kill a man of his status just like that without raising specks of dust? He is a Prince for goodness sake. Even though his popularity is close to zero, but history wouldn’t be kind to anyone who would succeed the throne if Prince Anon is killed carelessly. I don’t want that for my son Nightwinder. Therefore, we need to be very cautious when we talk about things that concern the young prince.” The Queen cautioned. At this point, I felt relieved. At least I won't be expecting my head chopped off anytime soon. “Yes, mother!” Princess Diane concurred. “Now, apologize to your brother.” Seemed like the Princess waited for a while. She did her apologies and her brother, Nightwinder, accepted. “First things first. For the bird not to flutter, you need to break the wings one by one, bit by bit. That is exactly how we are going to handle Anon. We don’t need to rush into things and make mistakes. My senior sister is very sly and if she couldn’t kill Anon since he was in Livinas all these years, then I don’t think he is someone you should underestimate. Make no mistake, he might be tougher than you think or he might just be one lucky bastard. We’ll see though.” I heard Queen Veronica say. My body shivered. I felt as though a bucket of ice was poured on me. I felt sick, again. My mind became restless and it wandered like a puppy searching for it's mother. I felt so lonely in my heart, I suddenly wished I had my mum by my side or someone with whom I could convey things (my worries) to. I was alone in the fight and I had this feeling that I was going to lose it because I had more than one enemy to contend with—I had an army to face. I relaxed and leaned helplessly to the entrance door. Since they didn’t know I was eavesdropping, I wanted to listen more. I wanted to hear more of their conversation. It was a rare opportunity and I wanted to make sure I grabbed everything. “Prince Anon!” someone mentioned my name. Who was it? I startled. I looked up to see who It was "Young," I muttered. “What are you doing here?” he asked me. He looked at me with a curious face. His eyes flickered smugly at me. “Long time no see Young," I said, I managed to smile. I felt like a rat trapped in a cage. “I wasn’t looking forward to seeing you here Anon.” “I wasn’t looking forward to seeing you either," I told him. "You look good by the way!” I glanced through his outfit. Young was dressed in what seemed like a ceremonial military suit and a crisp grey leather jacket. He wore a brown hat, which made me think at first that I had seen a gangly old man. His set of brown shoes perfectly matched the colour of his hat. Just like his mother, he had golden-brown eyes that made him look innocent, but like his twin brother, they both shared the same height. “Thank you, Anon. You look good too. I like your hairstyle by the way.” Young was the only person that said something good among the last three people I spoke with. To be honest, I felt happy for a moment. I smiled at him. It was an honest smile. “I need to go now. Maybe we will talk some other time,” I said, stroking him on the shoulder. Young wasn’t as vicious or as envious as his brother and sister. His only weakness was, he was too ambitious. Brady had once told me that some maids in the palace call Young the cruise Prince. He would drink and party most often without minding his position as a Prince. I made a quick walk down the hallway like I was rushing to meet someone while Young made his way into the Queen's room. I was sure that the Queen will find out by now that I might have heard almost everything they said behind my back in the room. Though I was sure that she wouldn't act rashly at this point. Don't get me wrong. She wouldn't do anything doesn't mean she can't do anything. She simply wouldn't do anything at the moment because she hadn't seen me as a threat she should be worried about. Which goes to show that I was perfectly underrated. Winks! For me, it's a good thing.
