Archie was sitting in Tesco drinking a soya latte. DJ, who’d just parked the car, was making a meal of lockdown. He, seeing several people pushing overflowing trolleys like the Armageddon was about to start, had headed straight for the toilet rolls with manic purpose. Archie had other concerns. In fact, he was so engrossed in his thoughts he didn’t notice the cleaner’s cart rattle past. The cleaner paused like he remembered something . . . “The car is in the garage.” Archie looked up. “And . . . the meter is still running?” “There’s no need for all that,” said Archie. “Oh, and my batteries are flat,” said the cleaner. “I said there’s no need for passwords . . . and those are out-of-date,” said Archie. “Oh,” said the cleaner, disappointed. “I have waited for years to do that too.”
