All of four of the robots had smoked enough to find the mechanical birds funny and chucking toffee at them even funnier, and for Pete to not only enthuse over the scarecrows but try to have a conversation with them. It was Prudence’s idea to take Pete back to the commune to meet and talk with the others. Pete had agreed, as long as there were no more comments about his outfit. Prudence apologized for “the past,” even gave Pope and Pot a telling-off when they made snide comments about Pete’s underwire.
