Verruca’s garden, or veg-plot, as she liked to call it, looked straight onto the highway. veg-plotShe was proud of her garden; the earth had been so dry and unforgiving when she arrived. The cook of the hippie colony warned her against it, claiming that the plot was “as organic as a nuclear reactor.” Verruca didn’t listen. She had learned a lot from her time with hippies, enough to know the cook should stick to cooking, and she with her latest state-of-the-art, just-like-a-human personal robot, Cyborg—they were bound to “move mountains.” Besides, the plot did have a magnificent shed.
