The Wolf Pup That Lived (Complete First Book)

After trekking for 2 months to reach the park, the park provided a sense of calming.  She decided to find a place that was quiet so she could talk to Asher and the elder spirits.

Alyra shifts back to her human form, and puts on her pajama clothing while she started to open the veil to the spirit world.   A bright light engulfs her with sounds of the forest, and in the distance you can see Asher walking towards her.

Asher greets her like usually calling her "little one", Alyra bowed her head in respect as usual.  Asher asked her "how was her journey so far?" 

Alyra explains the trials of learning how to catch prey which it wasn't easy.  She told Asher about her rabbit hunting which was an epic failure, and she needed help in getting food since her food supply is very low.   She explained to Asher that she has a few more cans of soup, no bread, and 2 bottle of water left. 

Alyra told Asher "If I cannot grasp how to hunt i will never make it to the next destination".

Asher decided to teach Alyra a few tricks of hunting prey.  He explained that rabbits are stealthy prey, but they can make a meal when starving.

First thing first when it comes to rabbit is hearing and smelling, If you block them from hearing you, and mask your scent like I have showed you. The prey will die before he even knows what hit him.

The first wolf (Asher) took her in the woods and helped her with the abilities to hunt animals, and tracking her prey.  Asher said " hopefully it sticks with you for the rest of your journey".

Now my little one, "how do you feel?"  Alyra answers quietly in a shy voice "I'm scared, tired, lonely, but most of all I feel unloved no matter where I am".

Time will tell at the end of your journey my little one, and with the answers you seek.

Asher asked for Alyra to come in his strong arms for a hug.  Alyra and ChiChi both just melted in Asher's arms.  I knew my time was limited in the spirit world, and he grabbed me from his shoulders, and put me back down on my two feet.  With a small peck on my cheek to say goodbye for now.

I began the process of dropping the veil and leaving the spirit world, when I heard this growl I have never heard before. 

ChiChi said to Alyra in her head "Black Bear", Alyra turned around and for sure there stood a big black bear.  Alyra asked ChiChi "what should I do?  Fight him or leave this area".

ChiChi said "with his size we cannot beat him, we are still to young as a pup, and not properly trained to take on that beast". Our best option is to leave this area quietly, but it was too late the bear charged at Alyra.   Alyra changed into her wolf form, and started to run in between trees to slow him down which it did, and the bear decided to break off.  

Alyra said shockingly to ChiChi "I guess we have too many bones and not enough meat, with a giggle".

ChiChi just growled in disappointment at Alyra comment.  ChiChi growled more and said to Alyra "come on pup we need to find a proper place to sleep tonight and eat".

With extra help from Asher about hunting, little Alyra caught four rabbits, and for the first time she hunted successfully. 

Alyra told ChiChi we got meat tonight for food.  ChiChi looked on surprised that Alyra was able to hunt now.  Alyra said "what do you have to say about this?" to ChiChi, and ChiChi reply was "finally you can hunt, I thought I would starve", before we got to our new den.   Alyra just rolled her eyes and started to eat a rabbit.

Alyra and ChiChi made it to the new den that ChiChi picked out, it was built into the rocks like a cave.  I told ChiChi " are you sure no one else is using this den?"   ChiChi replied " nope, haven't seen anyone come out of there nor going in it". 

Alyra went in to investigate and for sure enough, ChiChi and Alyra caught a break from being totally exposed to the elements, now they have there perfect den to protect them from the outside. 

The den also had a brook not to far from it where they can bathe, get clean drinking water, and hopefully they can try their luck at catching fish.

The next morning Alyra decided to try catching fish in her human form with her bare hands.  She soon found out fish are not so easy to catch.  The first fish she caught she lost it due to the fish being slippery.  Alyra was getting furious, and started cursing words.  While ChiChi was laughing in the back seat of Alyra's mind.

The frustration kept building after she lost over 10 fish...She told ChiChi "she must be on saint-peters holy s**t list for this to happen".  ChiChi continued to laugh even harder.

Alyra told ChiChi "its your turn to try".  So Alyra took off her pajama, and shifted into her wolf form with ChiChi in control.

ChiChi swan dive in and out of the water catching the fish one by one and throwing them on the bank close to the brook.  After catching 10 fish ChiChi climb out of the brook, and told Alyra " it wasn't that hard after all", Alyra just rolled her eyes at her wolf's comment.

They ate their fill of fish, and settled into the den for the night.

Alyra laid down while thinking about her family, and Mrs. Daisy.  Wondering did her father or mother even tried looking for her, or they just most likely said "good riddance" instead.  That night Alyra cried herself to sleep knowing there is no one to hold her through all of this.  She only had herself and ChiChi.

Next morning was a day of honing her new found skills of hunting and fishing, while spending sometime roaming the woods and playing in the leaves, sniffing in the forest scent, and listen to the birds chirping sounds.

Its been 3 months and its time to move on to the next leg of our journey Alyra said to ChiChi.

ChiChi asked " where are we going next?" and Alyra said " to Mt Robson Provincial Park it will take us 3 months to get there".

ChiChi said " another grueling trek, hopefully it goes better than the first one".  Alyra says the same also.
