The judge flipped through the final stack of evidence, then lifted his head to address the court.
"The facts are clear, and the evidence is conclusive.
"It is hereby ordered and adjudged by this court:
"The marriage between Plaintiff Isabella and Defendant Felix is hereby dissolved. The Defendant shall forfeit all entitlement to marital property and shall receive no distribution of any marital assets upon dissolution."
The gavel dropped.
Felix sat frozen in the defendant's box, his whole body completely hollowed out, as if all life had been drained out of him.
The court clerk slid the divorce decree across the table to him.
He took the pen, but his hand shook so violently that it took him multiple tries just to scrawl out his crooked, lopsided name.
I stared at him, and said softly
