Ezra I had intended to head to the mess hall after the nurse’s station, but I could see that Kristen’s hip was becoming stiff and sore. “Joy! Alex! Go to the mess hall and get some food for me and Mommy,” I said, and then I scooped Kristen into my arms - the thing I’d been longing to do since I pulled her out of that hole, and headed back toward our camp. Because the treasure hunt was meant to be an all-day event, they had set up a self-serve lunch-line in the mess hall with sandwiches, cold salads, fresh fruit, yogurts, chips and granola bars. Campers could come and go, grab what they wanted, even pack items in their backpacks to carry up on the mountain.
