32 SCARLETT I half expected the sound of the screen door when I heard him let himself in; I hadn’t even bothered to lock it against him. He entered the premises at exactly the point at which I had discovered the unadulterated pleasure of busting a dish against the wall. “Scarlett. That’s enough.” Honestly, all I thought was that I was so tired of men thinking it was okay to do whatever they wanted, without consequence, but when I wanted to have a little fun, break a plate or two, they somehow thought they had permission to tell me what to do.
