I have never been so afraid in my life. The thought of seeing a doctor terrified me.
What if they found something wrong with me? What if they told me I needed tests or treatments that I wasn't prepared for?
My mind raced with all the possibilities, each one more daunting than the last. I took a deep breath, trying to calm the storm of anxiety swirling inside me.
I considered getting up and running out of the office, but the fear of enduring another episode of excruciating pain kept me in my seat. I knew I couldn't ignore the signs any longer, no matter how much I wanted to. I needed to know what was wrong with me before I could leave.
