I stared down at the small note between my fingertips. I have read the few words over a hundred times, yet I couldn't get enough of it.
The message seemed to hold a weight far beyond its simple phrasing, stirring a mix of hope and anxiety within me. Each glance at the note ignited a flurry of memories of seeing her that night.
Goddess, I so wanted to learn about her face-to-face. Was that too much to ask?
My gaze traveled over the note once more, searching for any clues as to where she was hiding. Lex said she was near, but how far was that? Could I find her on my own?
"Lilly is with me," the note read. "Don't worry about her. She is safe. She'll be back soon.... Much love, your witchy mate..."
