I sat in the passenger seat of the SUV as we headed back to Sunset Rose. The battle had been brutal, and we had lost some men. I knew I would need to visit their families this coming week and we would have ceremonies for them. But each warrior and their families knew that every time we went into battle, we might not return. Still, it hurt nonetheless, and as their Alpha, I felt every single one of their deaths as their connection broke like a sharp pain in my chest. But what I felt would be nothing compared to what those with mates would have felt.
We had won in the end, and seeing our beautiful Queen in action was an amazing sight. And seeing my cousin as the King was such an amazing feeling. Part of me wondered if Theia had seen this before and if she already knew the outcome.
