The next year passed in a blur. I didn’t really pay attention to much that was going on around me. I went to school, came home, ate, slept. I was stuck, a zombie, a shell of my former child self.
‘When had I become aware of myself’ I shook the thought away.
As I rises that morning from my sleep, I felt put off. I tried to ignore it but it continued to pester me earn a permanent scowl across my face as I went through my day.
“A child should not frown so much my dear.” I turned to see the former Luna my grandmother float across the tiles of the pack house.
She was a grand woman with the air of royalty. I couldn’t help but plaster a smile on face at the sight of her.
“Now THAT is much better!” She laughed as she picked me up and swung me on her hip. I hugged her neck.
“Now what seems to be the problem?” She raised an eyebrow.
I just pointed to my head. I hadn’t spoken in a year and many were concerned that I had lost my voice due to the trauma. Nothing was farther from the truth. I just had nothing really to say.
“Use your words my dear” she pointed at me cross.
I shook my head. She frowned at me and tsked.
“You will have to speak one day”
As she set me down a wave of pain ripped through my skull and I screamed grabbing my head.
I could hear her calling for my father through the mind-link but I couldn’t concentrate anymore and I blacked out.
As I came back to consciousness, I could hear voices discussing about what happened. I kept my eyes closed and just listened.
“I have no clue what happened.” My grandmother hissed in a hushed tone. “One second I was asking her what was wrong, the next I put her down she started screaming an grabbing her skull.”
I could hear my father’s heavy footsteps pacing back and forth. “She didn’t say anything to you?”
She sighed “No all she did was point to her head.”
I heard a knock on the door and then it swung open.
“Well what can you tell us doctor?” My father sounded tired.
‘How long have I been out?’ I thought.
‘About a few days’ a voice chirped in reply.
I frowned internally. ‘Who are you?’
‘I am you. You are I. I am your wolf.’
I could hear the wolf’s smile.
‘What is your name?’ I ask.
‘I am Diamond. What is yours?’
‘I am Abigail.’
‘I am sorry for the pain I caused you. I was trying to contact you and something was in my way and I forced my way through.’
‘Yeah that kind of hurt but I accept your apology.’
‘I think you should wake up though.’ She chimed. ‘They are getting worried.’
I start to blink my eyes. I sit up carefully and examine my surroundings before my eyes land on everyone in the room.
“You’re alright! Thank the Goddess!” My grandmother comes over and hugs me tightly.
My father had tears in his eyes. “I thought I had lost you too!”
“You can’t get rid of me that easily!” I laughed and then frowned.
The look of shock and amazement on their face confirmed my confusion. I had just spoke.
